Barricades were put up along South Beach Thursday, as the city of Miami Beach gets ready to host Urban Beach Week.
Kiarra Wells and her three friends flew down from Detroit for the annual extravaganza, and Wells said she's just happy to hit warmer weather.

Because if they didn't they would be RACIST! and subject to NATO bombardment. I'm not joking.
Last year, the gathering was promoted on social media and the promoters didn’t bother to inform the city. By the time the crowds showed up, the place was overwhelmed.
This year, the city actively scoured social media and tried to contact the promoters. From what I understand, the promoters never returned requests from the city for information about the event, but VB planned for an influx anyway.
Good thing they did.
Not very civic-minded people.
I wonder of Delta Airlines takes EBT cards.
And here in Myrtle Beach we’re gearing up for Black Bike Week this weekend....ugh!
Greek Week or something like that,,,
So is this the same as black spring break or is it another opportunity for inner city black yutes to trash and loot a vacation destination?
What could go wrong?
We visited the Virginia Beach area about 4 years ago. There is an absolutely beautiful state park there that is on the Chesapeake Bay. Our caravan consisted of 3 couples in 3 campers.
On Saturday evening, we ventured into the city of Virginia Beach. Apparently there was some sort of cheerleading competition going on. The husband and I, along with one of the other couples, rented a 4-person vehicle that works like a bike, and there are lanes that run parallel to the boardwalk that one is expected to use with such vehicle.
We learned early on that the thing does not have brakes. As we were approaching a crowd of rather young children who were evidently rehearsing and were surrounded by a large group of adults, we were calling for them to clear the trail. I was shouting, “This has no brakes! We can’t stop!” But our pleas were ignored.
We nearly wrecked the dang thing in our maneuvering to avoid hitting anyone by going off the lane. But we figured later that any injuries we would have sustained in a wreck would have been nothing compared to what our cracker heads would have sustained if we had accidentally run into anyone.
Later, we were sitting on a bench near the boardwalk. A couple in their mid-teens showed up to share a “blunt” nearby.
I was glad to get the heck out of the city. Real shame. By contrast, we had visited earlier in the week and enjoyed it. There is a good museum there and a very nice veterans’ memorial near the boardwalk.
Remember the lawsuit? In previous years and now Myrtle Beach businesses found the event so disruptive and non profitable, many closed. The permanently outraged crowd sued to make the businesses stay open and lost.
Here’s a radical idea. Organize and self police the groups so much that that localities would welcome them. Just a thought.

I’m sure things weren’t perfect with this event but it was probably a cake walk compared to what’s coming in MB this weekend.
I don’t mind “Harley Week” at all. My friends who have businesses love it - they make $$$ and have very few problems.
This upcoming weekend - I’m on my way to the grocery store now and will hibernate with the exception of going to church on Sunday and a BBQ at a friend’s house Sunday evening. I’m right in the “thick of it”. I live 5 minutes from Myrtle Beach State Park......LOL
That was one of the worst experiences of my life. We were down there celebrating our 25th Anniversary and the antics and misbehavior drove my wife to tears and almost ruined our vacation. The Harley crowd the next week had noisy bikes too, but were better behaved.
Isn’t Miami where Freaknik finally ended up after our Black Mayor kicked it out of Atlanta? I’m thinking Urban beach week is codespeak for Freaknik.
Harley week is always the week before Black Bike Week and it’s loud but not bad at all. I absolutely detest driving in Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach during Black Bike Fest! I just avoid it like the plague!
Batten down the hatches!!!!!
Thank god i’m not down there this week....
Stay away from Pensacola, too. Memorial Day weekend there is a big homosexual celebration.
Several clubs in Miami will be closing as well this weekend.
South Beach Clubs Closing for Urban Beach Week (NSFW warning; some skimpy bathing suit photos).
Previous experience has taught that blacks aren't spending money in the clubs, they're just causing trouble, and staying open for UBW isn't worth it.
At least the gays will be spending money, not destroying the place and shooting each other.
Nonetheless and speaking from experience, "pride" festivals are no place for families.
“not destroying the place and shooting each other”
Nope destroying each other....Not a bad thing IMOP
