Restaurant With Anti-Gun Policy Robbed at Gunpoint(Created a Killing Zone)

A North Carolina restaurant that posted a sign out front saying it was a gun-free zone was robbed at gunpoint earlier this week.

As seen in surveillance video, Eyewitness News 11 reports, three men wearing hooded sweatshirts and wielding handguns entered The Pit, a barbecue restaurant, through the kitchen Sunday night. Two employees were assaulted during the robbery, although the restaurant's owner says, "[t]hey're doing great." The restaurant has a sign on its front window that reads, "No Weapons. No Concealed Firearms." A pro-gun website published a photo of the sign this week in the wake of the robbery. Several reports say that retired Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head in what was termed an assassination attempt in Arizona three years ago, visited The Pit for an anti-gun roundtable last year.

The news comes on the heels of several restaurants, including Chipotle and Starbucks, saying guns are not welcome in their establishments.

Chipotle's anti-gun announcement came on Monday after the Denver-based company famous for its burritos said gun rights activists brought assault rifles into one of its locations in Texas.

Wait just a gol-durn minnit.

Didn’t the Federal Courts deem it illegal to refuse service to customers based on that customer’s choice of lifestyle?

Might as well have a sign on the door that reads:

Rob Me, I am Unarmed.

Well, I hate Starbucks, so I never go there.

I will now add Chipotle to my list of Restaurants I WILL NOT Patronize.

The decor of the place reminds me of the “Work Cafeteria in the novel 1984” anyway.

The account of the Pit robbery, I read mentioned that the robbers came in the back door. I wonder it they had a “No Guns” sign there, this robbery could have been prevented.
Maybe the robbers were not aware they were in a gun free zone.
Ya think?

That's the problem, they didn't have a gun free zone sign at the kitchen entrance. One look at that and they would have walked away disappointed.

I’d like to see the employees who were assaulted take some action against the management who posted the sign and then failed to provide for their safety.

Perhaps their next policy will be to take all their cash receipts at the end of the night and tape the bills to the outside of the restaurant window with a note that says “Don’t take”

If they do not put up the universal no guns sign, concealed carry is still welcome. If they do put up the no guns sign, I am not a customer.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ruling on this, but...

wouldn’t you think that a “no guns/weapons” policy would be an inherent requirement for providing security to the patrons and employees?

IE, if someone gets hurt because of the inability to defend themselves due to the policy of the business owner, and his failure to provide security, then he should be liable for any harm that comes to the patrons or employees.
