I think this is one of those issues where you will only get lip service about it until a really bad disaster happens. Nobody wants to spend all the money to secure every facility unless there is such a public outcry they can’t avoid it.

there was a shooter somewhere dressed with a Marines cap.....and Ive heard NOTHING at all about the outcome of that little adventure. It sunk beneath the waves of journailistic neglect hours after the first initial reports.
