Yesterday, Pennsylvania became the latest state to rid itself of its ban on same sex marriage. Days prior, Oregon also struck down its ban. Today, a new Gallup poll reveals that 55 percent of Americans now support marriage equality the highest percentage on record. Other states will soon follow, which is exactly why its not far off to assume that Justice Anthony Kennedy may be responsible for making marriage equality the rule of law across the country sooner than later.
And yet, it was only a week ago that a bunch of sourpuss, Bible-toting but not necessarily comprehending Black pastors were out making the media rounds to declare that the fight is on. Yes, Pastor Ronald Caldwell of Burnette Inspiration Baptist Church of Detroit told a flock of fools that when it comes to supporters of gay marriage, You are my enemy! Anybody thats an enemy of God is an enemy of mine. And now the fight is on! Weve come together to say, Hell no. Were not going to sit back.
Now, this is a man who lives in Detroit, a city which far more serious matters to concern itself with besides whether two gays get married. One would think a Christian pastor in a poverty-stricken town would know this. After all, Jesus thought poverty was a big no-no, so hed probably be more inclined to tell his flock to go after the Koch Brothers than your gay uncle and lesbian auntie. Unfortunately, thatd be too much like right, now wouldnt it, saints?
No? Well, Id like to extend another hell no to Rev. Stacey Swimp of Flint, Michigan, who told the audience that same-sex marriage will destroy the backbone of our society. What great society is she trying to salvage? The one that doesnt value her life as a woman, as a Black person, and especially as a Black woman?
That reminds me, I sure hope Swimp wasnt on her menstrual cycle when she was condemning the gays. You know, given the Bible says something to the effect of, Eww, nasty woman! in its text on that issue. Funny, how we pick and choose what to believe, huh?
Meanwhile, White pastors like Rev. Rex Evans, pastor of Free Will Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan, are joining them in the right. On the big bad gay marriage trend, Evans claims, We love everybody, but we dont love the (gay) lifestyle. Its time to take our nation back.
A White man talking about taking our nation back. Sound familiar? I thought so, which is why Im unsure why Black Christians would be tagging themselves into this fight. After all, Christian dogma was once used against them. How soon we forget.
Enter the very much Black Rev. Rader Johnson of Greater Bibleway Temple in Bay City, Michigan, who said, We believe in the Judeo-Christian conception on which America was founded upon. So the slaughter of indigenous people and the enslavement of millions of Africans? Point and laugh, everyone. Rev. Rader earned it.
Frankly, theres no sense in being too upset about this. All of the aforementioned will be remembered as nothing more than relics of ignorance and intolerance. Nonetheless, Im just going to sit here and sing Mia Xs You Dont Want 2 Go To War. This fight is almost over and its pretty evident which side is going to win.
Dripping with condescension and a sort of tacit elitism towards them “dumb black relics”.
Justice belongs to God, and one day this writer will bite the dist and stand before the throne before being cast into the pit.
And the battle is a global battle in which those pushing perversion are becoming increasingly isolated to the dead continent of Europe and North America
I’m sure they voted for McCain and Romney. /s
A FEDERAL judge throws out Pennsylvania's ban and this is "ridding itself" of its ban? How did the people of Pennsylvania do that? Did they elect this stupid judge?
This article is not fit for publication and crosses the line of decency. Additionally, the writer attacks Christians in a manner that is unjustified.
Funny how this coon mislead his dumb as a rock readers, the States did not strike down the ban, a few Liberal Judges did! You have be completely stupid to believe anything that comes out of this clowns mouth.
“A FEDERAL judge throws out Pennsylvania’s ban and this is “ridding itself” of its ban? How did the people of Pennsylvania do that? Did they elect this stupid judge?”
The state’s Republican governor was elected by the people and is now refusing to carry out the will of the people that elected him.
“Michael Arceneaux is a [...] Howard-educated writer, and [...] an aspiring private dancer.” (http://newsone.com/author/ionemarceneaux/)
People with enlightened Christian morals, and life principles that mean something to them, will not go easy into that dark night of perverted sexuality, nor will they help society get to that dark place. All the harassment in the world from intolerant fags isn’t going to change things.
Odd as it seems, many true black men resent their struggle for civil rights being compared to the sordid life-style choices of a few down-low rump wranglers.
Federal judges appear to be taking over the decision making for us residents in Michigan.
First the gay marriage ban we voted for and today a judge put John Conyers on the ballot in violation of longstanding state law. (The same law that kept Thaddeus McCotter off the ballot a couple years ago)
You said a funny....
So who won?
“Yesterday, Pennsylvania became the latest state to rid itself of its ban on same sex marriage.”
A federal judge overruling a referendum is hardly what I would call what a ‘state’ is doing. The state did the opposite, and this man, a single judge, dictatorially overruled them.
So let’s call things the way they are. A dictator ordered the state to obey his will, against their better wishes and judgment. Pennsylvania is no longer a free state, but the subjects of an imperious, tyrannical federal judge.
Hardly. Jesus was realistic about different economic classes as is the bible. "The poor you will have with you always" is pretty insightful and the exact opposite of what the article is quoted as saying.
And why is it that every single Black Democrat (including the clergy) who get involved in politics never utter a word on moral issues?
