Detroit motorists under siege in 'Carjack City'

DETROIT (AP) — When they pull up to a gas station these days, Detroit drivers are looking beyond the price per gallon at a far more threatening concern: carjackers.

The armed auto thieves have become so common here that parts of the bankrupt metropolis are referred to as "Carjack City," and many motorists fear getting out of their vehicles even for a few moments to fill a tank.

So gas stations are taking steps to protect customers, and the city has formed a special police team to go after suspects. Convicted carjackers will even get their faces and prison sentences plastered onto billboards.

"You need to catch these people and make a good example of them," said Mousa Bazzi, who owns a Mobil station in a semi-desolate neighborhood bordering Detroit's east riverfront. He keeps his business well-lit and continually has two to four employees inside to ensure "there's always an extra hand or two" in case of trouble.

"You need to catch these people and make a good example of them,"

The BEST example is one of them bleeding out into darkness out by the gas pumps, lying flat on their faces.

Car Jack City is an online game mode on Grand Theft Auto IV. CJC is giving by Kenny Petrovic via cellphone. Cars spawn parked around the map and the player must steal them and take them to a drop off point. The cars will range from executives like the Schafter or PMP 600, SUV’s like the Cavalcade or Sport and high-end vehicles. The cash players get for dropping off stolen vehicles depends on their condition – players get less cash the more damaged they are. The exception to this are, cars stuffed with drugs, which give a set amount of cash on delivery no matter how damaged they are. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins.

” The player with the most money at the end of the game wins.”

Well, that makes it a great simulation of life itself, I suppose :(.

nah.

In life, maybe the one who spent the most could be the winner, or the one who was most happy.

Brought to you by continuous decades of liberal Democrat rule. Coming soon to Chicago and many other cities that adopt the “Progressive” ideas of the Marxists. Its the blueprint for America.

The gas stations should just go to full-service.

“Soweto,” indeed. Maybe we need a Soweto solution, too: I remember reading in an automotive magazine some years ago about a special Johannisberg police unit set up to deter carjackers. Two-man patrol teams, riding in a BMW, the passenger armed with a high-power rifle. They were authorized to engage in high-speed pursuit and to shoot to kill (different legal atmosphere from ours, I guess). Dangerous, yes — but it sounded like the coolest job in the world!

Of course the other option is to drive a stick, and then run in the store laughing (while you pull out your concealed, just in case).
