Obama blames Founding Fathers’ ‘structural’ design of Congress for gridlock

President Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the “disadvantage” of having each state represented equally in the Senate.

At a Democratic fundraiser in Chicago Thursday night, Mr. Obama told a small group of wealthy supporters that there are several hurdles to keeping Democrats in control of the Senate and recapturing the House. One of those problems, he said, is the apportionment of two Senate seats to each state regardless of population.

“Obviously, the nature of the Senate means that California has the same number of Senate seats as Wyoming. That puts us at a disadvantage,” Mr. Obama said.

The Founding Fathers decided in the “Great Compromise” in 1787 to apportion House seats based on population and give each state two seats in the Senate regardless of population. The solution was a compromise between large states and small states in a dispute that nearly dissolved the Constitutional Convention.

The president also blamed “demographics” for the inability of the Democratic Party to gain more power in Congress, saying Democrats “tend to congregate a little more densely” in cities such as New York and Chicago. He said it gives Republicans disproportional clout in Congress.

“So there are some structural reasons why, despite the fact that Republican ideas are largely rejected by the public, it’s still hard for us to break through,” Mr. Obama said.

He also said Democrats suffer from the “congenital disease” of not voting in midterm elections.

I cannot fathom the arrogance and conceit that must be at the core of this pretender. For him to suppose, to presume to know more and ponder more greatly than the collective minds of the Founders, AND the first generation of Free Americans who ratified the Constitution is simply beyond belief.

And, now to have him in a position of the most significant power, with a penchant for ruling rather than leading, and a cadre of sycophants to do his very bidding, simply compounds the danger he represents; a clear and present danger.

I pray for the nation.

This crap from a self-described constitutional law professor. This ‘swipe probably thinks the Connecticut Compromise is how he got his Social Security card.

0bama is a compulsive liar. I think he’d rather tell a lie he thinks he can get by with than to utter a true statement that would do him more good.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. We’re all supposed to bow at his feet and obey his commands.

They were wise enough to know that someone like obumbler would come along some day.

And here he is: The biggest con man in our political history.

Or a front man , a Trojan Horse for something more sinister?

It’s only a disadvantage to megalomaniacal tyrants who think they have all the answers to overcoming life’s difficulties even thought they’ve never achieved anything of substance or proven they can even solve their own problems without spreading other people’s money to their friends and cronies.

obama is a complete dumkopf if he doesn’t comprehend that gridlock is a good thing and the Constitution was designed that way deliberately to slow down destructors who managed to get into powerful places

The United States Constitution is obviously putting Mr. Obama at a disadvantage....again.

He's not incompetent. He knows exactly what he's doing and this is all by design.

I knew Obama was a fraud even when he gave his stupid 2004 DNC Convention speech.

To be more precise, the Senate was selected by the State Legislatures to represent and do the bidding of the States as their legislatures deemed in the State’s best interest. Those legislators were far more accountable to their small local constituencies, where the founders knew the origins of those checks and balances needed to reside. The 17th Amendment changed that.

Constitutional lawyer my eye. Has anyone ever heard of anyone who was in law school with this guy or had a class taught by him?

I was just reading about Madison the other day as to how the system is intentionally adversarial; ow he believed that the competition between the three limited branches would slow or stop tyranny.

f he were actually born in Hawaii, it does not make him an illegal alien. The fact that his father was never a citizen is at the heart of his legal standing to run for the Presidency. The more people try to go the route of where he was born just obfuscates the basic argument which most seen incapable to comprehend. It is about the status of a Natural Born Citizen.

Clown Prince nobama should be impeached, convicted of his many, many crimes and exiled. Waterboard the buffoon, however, prior to exile to find out who he really is.
