Climate Blues: How Environmentalists Chill Out in a Warming World
NBC News ^ | May 24, 2014 | BY MIGUEL LLANOS

Studies warning of an Antarctic ice sheet collapse. A wildfire season that could shatter records. Shellfish eaten away by oceans turned more acidic due to greenhouse gases. U.N. and U.S. reports stating that climate change is advancing more quickly.

Everyone gets down about their work from time to time, but for environmentalists, they can sometimes quite literally be dealing with the end of the world as we know it.

“It’s hard to stay perky when scientists conclude that tragedy, such as the loss of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, is inevitable,” says Denis Hayes, a veteran activist who co-founded Earth Day in 1970.

“The scale of the mess we’re in, environmentally, is enough to push anyone to the edge of their sanity,” adds Dougald Hine, co-founder of The Dark Mountain Project, a group of activists fully expecting ecological, and social, collapse across the planet.

The eco-lunatics are getting more and more desperate, and so long as they get support from the media and the left, are likely to become more and more violent.

Who knew that liberals were ever “Perky”?
They seem perpetually ticked off to me.

“It’s hard to stay perky when scientists conclude that tragedy, such as the loss of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, is inevitable,” says Denis Hayes, a veteran activist who co-founded Earth Day in 1970.

Herein lies the problem for the environmentalist these days, and this is likely to be one of several important factors in the demise of the whole movement. Once you convince people that something is "inevitable," you've effectively told them that it's a waste of time to even give a damn about it anymore. I suspect this is one reason why environmental issues are never important to most people.

And for the rest of us who know that anthropogenic global warming is a massive scientific fraud (now renamed “climate change” since warming didn’t happen), the worry is not so much.

The issue is not “global warming”. The issue is the CAUSE of global warming. The flawed argument isn’t necessarily that there’s such a thing a “global warming” or that it may be happening now. The flawed argument is, “We have a global warming problem and, therefore, government must do whatever it has to do [more interference with individuals’ freedoms] to stop it.” It’s a flawed argument because it contains an unproven and flawed “stealth” presumption that man must be the cause of global warming.

The Left wants the debate kept at whether there’s global warming. We need to turn the debate away from that somewhat silly argument. The argument about scientific data and evidence of whether or not "global warming" exists can go on from now 'till Moses. (The Bible does indicate a warm-up and a rising sea in the last days.) It is really beside the point. The more the Right argues this wrong point, the sillier the Right potentially looks and the stronger this oft-unspoken presumption of man-made causes seems to get.

Instead, the Right needs to steer the debate to where the real point is: THE CAUSE. As there may be some debate about whether there’s global warming, there’s no real true, scientific debate that “man is causing global warming”. Arguments need to be advanced to first get this somewhat stealth presumption "out" into the open and then to defeat this Leftist excuse for more government tyranny over our lives. It should be fairly easy to win the debate over this really silly presumed notion.

'The issue is the CAUSE of global warming.'
Hmmm... Now which one could it be? Hmmm...
It's so difficult to figure out!

Oooo, you're not keeping up.

Now it's called "climate disruption" to increase the fear factor.

Pretty much sums it up. That’s also the problem too, saying, like my professor was willing to say, that “it’s a manageable issue” makes a world of difference.
