Good morning, all!

Nice analysis as usual, bray! The parallels between the Soviet Union and what is going on in America today are frightening. I know, I know; same people, different language. I suppose we'll know we have passed the tipping point when our government takes determined action to close our borders - to keep us in!

In the meantime everyone, enjoy the beautiful weekend and honor those who have served, given all, and done the right and honorable things in defense of America and our Constitution. There are so many of them!

Nice Memorial Day tribute by Donnie Osmond, put up by Glenn Beck, to support Gold Star Mothers:

“I am really so tired of all the TALKERS who do nothing but complain about RINOs but don’t show up at the primaries. Primaries everywhere have dismal turnouts. They are the PRIMARY place to defeat RINOs.”

I agree with this sentiment. Two years ago, here in Texas, in an OPEN seat fight Ted Cruz won because
1. Low primary turnout
2. even lower runoff turnout.

So just how many people care anything about our g’ment? And just how many do we really need to show up on primary day?

For seats where there is an incumbent running there are many obstacles.
Here in Texas John Wayne McCornyn had abysmal opposition. NO ONE with any credibility chose to run against him

Was this also the case in Kentucky? More primary voters had a vested interest in Mitch? Was Bevin as good candidate?

...but I understand that gun running operations, secret and away from public eyes, are something every president indulges in. It’s just easier to sneak in weapons to those who are trying to depose those we don’t like. I am reminded of Iran-contra of the Reagan admin.

Good morning. Pat. I don't know if every President engages in gun running, but the Executive branch will use end runs around laws that constrain its actions with or without the knowledge of Congress.

In the case of Benghazi, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that at least the top four ranking members of Congress--Reid, McDonnell, Boehner, and Pelosi--knew what was happening in Benghazi. I suspect one reason Boehner dragged his feet on a Select Committee was to hide their participation in and knowledge of what was going on there.

The fact that the Turkish Consul met with Stevens indicates to me that the Turks were assisting in the movement of weapons to the Syrian resistance--weapons we must have been harvesting in Benghazi, which is a seaport and close to Turkey and Syria.

We used the Saudis as a conduit to send weapons via Pakistan to the the Afghan resistance that was fighting the Soviets. Something similar appears to be going on Benghazi. And no doubt, there were also concerns about rounding up Stinger missiles from the Libyan rebels.

Given the highly classified nature of the operations, I wonder if we will ever find out what was going on. Gowdy won't be able to reveal it or he may feel bound to gloss it over. If Congress had not been informed, then it is a different ballgame. I found it interesting that Mike Morrell, the former Deputy CIA Director, said during the Congressional hearings that he had edited some of the talking points so as not to make the State Department look bad. Strange remark.

A hard search does not disclose when hearings will start. All articles are negative, new committee is a “lynch mob”, “after 8 reviews, now one more” etc. Sickening.

Of course Gowdy will have to hire staff, get their ducks in line, review all the information gleaned from prior hearing results, etc.

As I say, if they do not have significant new, provable information then this will be a disaster. I have hopes they are not THAT stupid

You miss my point entirely.

It is not about ridding the chaff in the general election but rather the primary.

27% of Kentucky's eligble voters voted in the primary on May 20th. Since Kentucky is a deeply conservative state, why couldn't those non-voting but eligible conservatives had taken 30 minutes of their busy lives and go vote for BEVINS???!!!!

They didn't. Call it laziness, ignorance or whatever, but we conservatives have a terrible voting problem.

Many here have said "Give me a conservative candidate for a change, and I will vote for him/her!"

Well, another chance squandered.

All talk. nothing but cheap talk. Seriously, I'm pi$$ed.

27 %. Really?! And every Kentuckian conservative wants Mitch McConnell to lose, so I'm told. Now they're so angry, they'll vote for the democrat in November just to show 'em!

Don't you realize just how lame that is, given Tuesday's turnout?

The rest of us sure wants him to go! Where the Hell where the Kentucky conservatives on Tuesday? Did non-Kentucky conservative rally to help get out the vote for Bevins in Kentucky?

No, they were on Free Republic, complaining about Boehner and McConnell being the same as democrats, and now talking about voting democrat to really show 'em that conservatives cannot be taken for granted! Seriously?

Absolutely! In a world of best cases we could take over both Houses maybe the presidency and then just reinvent government at about half the current size its at now or even less.

“WHEW! That was a close one. The Left/Libs ALMOST lost Kirstin Powers.”

I was waiting for someone to open this door.

Last time we publicly saw this type of propaganda was As the Beatles say Back in the U.S.S.R Pravda days. The commie A.K.A. the democrats are closing ranks.

In history there were a few times when the propaganda apparatchiks met with their just rewards.
1. The French revolution when it turned on its own
2. Tokyo Rose, who I believe may have been hanged after the proper due process

Who knows, we too may get lucky and some crazy commie democrat will run over Kirstin - Schadenfreude

Above is one of hundreds of links about a Florida Marine who made a wrong turn and wound up in Mexico. He has been held there for months 35 days of which he was chained to his bed both feet and both hands.
Time to boycott anything mexico maybe we will get their attention.

I strongly suspect McCain (and Lady Linda) is up to his fat neck in it, as well.

This entire episode is a disgrace. First, to the corrupt Mexicans who run a horrible country which should be one of the jewels of the civilized world but instead is a murderous cesspool, and second, to our own government who apparently could give a good crap less what happens to this young man and especially because he is an honorable serviceman and was carrying his own guns in his truck.

My guess is they will let him rot in Mexico as an example to all we snaggle-toothed, bitter clinger, knuckle-dragging gun-toters they so detest in this country because he is one of "ours". I can see them roaring with laughter and high-fiving each other as we speak.

It's true. But, in this one, Obama has to justify arming terrorists. McCain (and Linda) were all out in the open demanding this, and I suspect they know a LOT about the whole operation in Libya. Put their asses on the stand, Trey.

Maybe, but when an Administration wants to keep things very quiet and still inform Congress, they will go to just the top four and demand no leaks.

I've been around the dance floor more than once placing the blame correctly where it belongs, at the feet of the "conservative chauvanists".

These morons gave us Obama and other "enemies domestic".

It’s interesting you name Mumbles McConnell as probably knowing about this gun running operation. If indeed there was such a thing.

But hey, Fast and Furious had us shipping guns to drug cartels in Mexico so it’s very believable.

I believe the Blue Blood GOP Ruling class knows about a lot but says nothing....even the VA....you know they knew.

Why didn’t MCCAIN use this as a campaign item? McCain, the great American military hero, could have gotten whistle blowers out there.

Instead he went on and on about campaign finance reform, something that worried so many Americans that they lost sleep.

Or Romney, even better....he was running against Obama after a term served. They could have made this VA thing into a winner.

They’re NOT on our side, folks, they’re on THEIR side.

With all of the GAO reports done on the VA, of course they knew. Every Congressmen and the President knew what was happening. But now they are affecting concern because the public has been made aware via the MSM and whistle blowers. It is just more hypocrisy by the political elites who depend on fooling the dumb-downed American public. They are never disappointed.

Great points Dan. My group has won more elections and petitions than any group in Oregon. We live in a blue state and a blue district yet we win election after election.

We have one secret, we get out our Republican voters. We don’t lose from not getting enough crossover votes, we lose by not getting enough Republican votes. Our team has realized that and are solving that problem.

We just got another ballot measure to stop Light Rail in my town and will have a vote in Sept to completely stop it. We did it by getting enough Republicans to sign the measure. This system can win any election.
