Prominent Harvard Prof. Alan Dershowitz’s Comments About Ted Cruz Could Help His 2016 Chances

Prominent Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz offered words of praise for former student Ted Cruz in a new interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer:

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas): “Off-the-charts brilliant. And you know, liberals make the terrible mistake, including some of my friends and colleagues, of thinking that all conservatives are dumb. And I think one of the reasons that conservatives have been beating liberals in the courts and in public debates is because we underestimate them. Never underestimate Ted Cruz. He is off-the-chart brilliant. I don’t agree with his politics.”

But the retiring Dershowitz couldn’t similarly evaluate another Harvard Law alumnus:

There was also the Harvard Law student who couldn’t get into a Dershowitz class despite multiple attempts: Barack Obama.

“Twice because the computer kept him out,” Dershowitz said. “It wasn’t my fault.”

Dershowitz is very smart and intellectually honest. It begs the question how can he maintain a liberal POV? It just goes to show that anyone can have a neurotic blind spot in their thinking.

I knew a few in my college years a professor in particular. Very good friend. Very liberal and very intelligent. Respected my views even during class discussions

I don’t agree with his politics

What exactly does he agree with then? That the constitution should be shredded? That the government should dictate to the people that they should buy a companies product or be punished? That our vets should be punished for their sacrifices? That WW2 vets should be barred from visiting their memorial? That foreign invaders should be treated as US citizens? That terrorists should be supported? That taxpayers should pay for the sexual perversions of traitors? That people should be punished for working hard and being successful? Please enlighten me Professor.

IMO, Dershowitz got a wake-up call when, after 9/11, his fellow libs leaned towards Palis and Muslims over Israel. Dershowitz is ardently pro-Israel, pro-Jewish. His lefty buddies are anti everything he believes in on those topics. I’ll never get it.

As far as I am concerned liberals are either domestic enemies or useful idiots. Liberalism and Marxism both lead to a totalitarian dictatorship. The only difference is the time it takes to get there.

Why would the computer keep zero out of Dershowitz’s class?

Maybe he, um, missed some registration deadlines, and, uh, what was the question?

"Dude! Ain't you supposed to be at, y'know, Harvard or somethin'?"

"Naw, man! Pass the doobie!"

Why would the computer keep zero out of Dershowitz’s class?

Simple, the computer was RASCIST.

Although one could possibly guess that his grades weren’t
up to it.....

Exactly, these idiots just do not know or refuse to acknowledge history, how everything they support leads to the singularity of a Dictator. The government gets more and more powerful, and it gets more and more centralized until you get an asshole with absolute power, and they are ALWAYS assholes. You’ll never find a Mr. Rogers type acting as Dictator. It’s always a psychopath, millions and millions of people going through absolute hell over one bastard, and it’s happening right now in the US! We are living under a soft tyranny and the ONLY thing that is preventing it from going hard is the US Constitution which is why this sc*mbag is trying to trash it every chance he gets.

Unresolvable scheduling conflict? Happened a few times to me, and I'm not an underachieving pot smoker.

I'm curious what kept The Zero out the third time...

This may be an opening for a smart FR Lawyer to file a “FREEDOM OF INFORMATION Request to document if Obama was actually a lawyer, as he claimed.

Dershowitz is what you used to call an honest liberal. A person who would debate you on the merits instead of name calling and using the state to suppress contrary opinions.

Dershowitz is an unusual liberal... one we can respect while disagreeing with him...

There's no such thing as "an honest liberal". They are still destroyers of society. What's honest about that?

And I can't "respect" any liberal just because he's open on his views. Liberals deserve only scorn and contempt no matter how earnestly artful they are.

Dirtshowbiz is an adept sly fox who plays both sides against the middle and has made an enormously good living from his nimble schtick.

Unimpeded by nearly total ignorance of the actual facts, I would venture that the two senators possessed of the most candlepower are Ted Cruz and Chuck Schumer.

Both are extraordinarily able. Importantly, neither disintegrates under pressure, in fact, I have never known Ted Cruz to utter a single statement which could be legitimately judged to be a gaffe.

But it is not just public appearances that tell, Barack Obama is a very effective communicator but, as an exemplar of affirmative action all his life, he obviously is not in the same league as Cruz or Schumer.

Both Obama Schumer have demonstrated no ability other than to orate themselves into public office but Schumer has excelled in academics. Obama was aided by his skin color.

Cruz,on the other hand, has excelled in every competition such as national debates and in every competitive environment such as appellate litigation where he cannot be said to have been advanced because of his ethnicity.

Why would the computer keep zero out of Dershowitz’s class?

This was 1988-1991.

The affirmative action mob had long since taken power. But it takes time to reprogram all those legacy systems, dontcha know!

So, it's obvious the computer worked as designed and kept an unqualified student out of Dershowitz's classes.

Interesting. I had no idea that Schumer had been an academic.
