As a NYer, I was unsurprised to see there was no mention of the Ukip elections in the Sunday Times. In fact, the entire Week in Review, possibly the most important part of the paper, had nothing on the British elections. It was all dedicated to trans sexual politics. That paper is psychotic.

Can UKIP save England from the Muslims over-running it and bleeding
it’s treasure dry?

I hope so.

“That paper is psychotic.”

My dear miss mamelstein, I can’t but agree.

The second to last time I bought the Sunday NY Times (and this was probably about 6 or 7 years ago) it was so stupid it made my hair hurt.

We bought it for packing material, but obviously the magazine and book review are no good for that, so I was reading them.

The magazine featured 2 stories, one about how some kid was a teenage commie, in the 80s, attending The Little Red Schoolhouse (I’m sure you’ll be familiar with that). He felt oppressed because of Regan, or something.

The other featured some true culture vultures who evidently had torn through the apartment of the deceased Susan Sontag (the greatest philosopher of our time! TM!) and reproduced every ephemeral scribble she scribbled. Of course they all said, be gay, have sex a lot, some stuff like that.

My poor father must be rolling in his grave. As my mom said: to him the sun rises and sets in the pages of the NY Times.

But for sure it didn’t use to be so psychotic and so mind-numbingly s.t.u.p.i.d.

Of course, they do still run a good article one in a while, I do have to say that.

Never can tell in a General Election what will happen if the People are **ss**-off enough.
The Monster-Raving Party has had several Seats over the years.
The Labour block vote is almost a forgone conclusion ,so only the conservative ,lib-dem ,and ‘others’ votes are up for grabs.
Most of the South is in conservative hands ,so anything is possible.
If your prediction is correct, i suspect that it is, the vote splitting could lead to a Labour landslide victory. Ugh.

Yup. The Times has been crazy for a lifetime although under little Pinch it has become obsessed with sick sexual practices and billionaire real estate.

I bought it today thinking, well, I’ll look at the book review and maybe the food section. BIG MISTAKE!!!!

But seats on the EU. Happily, Cameron and that metrosexual, Ed Miliband, are running scared.

Who is telling you this? The same folks who got their teeth kicked in
by UKIP?

For a perspective, this vote is historic in England.
This is a movement, not a fad.

I plead ignorance - could somebody inform me about what UKIP means? Thanks.

UK Independent Party

Seems to be part of a trend across Europe, whereby people express their discontent with immigration, for one thing.

UK’s last chance. Either they kick the savages out or there’s no more UK.

Too right. It’s become the Guardian with a slightly better reputation.

She was, of course, referring to The Sunday Times of London. Different newspaper if not entirely different political outlook.

You are largely correct. The importance of UKIP is the influence they have on other parties. They partly drag the major parties to a more anti European Union stance.

They may also destroy the Conservatives chances at the General Election alowing Labour to get in.

Not entirely due to their bias — though no doubt they will try to bury the results tomorrow — the vote was on Thursday in UK and a handful of other “countries”, today in the majority. So Thursday’s results were embargoed till tonight.

Yes, but it's all good at least for now. Yes, this is an almighty protest vote, but it's almost the tipping point for the Westminster elections. In a 3 party fight (and it is now 3 party) 30% means 20-40% in different seats and 40% is all it'll take to get some seats there.

What Nigel Farage really needs now is some backup - like maybe Daniel Hannan (MEP) jumping ship from the Cons, and maybe some bluedog MP from the Labs (if they have any?). If he can break from the one-man band appearance, he can kill off the Tories and Libs, and get Britain back to a true contrast between Lab and real Conservatives.

As I think you imply, it's a huge problem for the Cons, and they either respond or start to die.

And the sooner the better. And as with the RNC, one just hopes the organization (such as it is) and cash can be bequeathed to someone who will make better use of it.

I wouldn't disagree with much of what you say. I don't think anyone truly knows what the influence/result of the UKIP rise will be. Right now I view them as a positive force, a lighted fuse underneath all major parties. I still believe a very possible outcome will be in the election of Ed bloody Miliband. I hope UK voters are not THAT daft.

Also interesting to see the rise of anti-European parties elsewhere in Europe, mostly on the Right but a significant rise on the far Left too.
