REPUBLICANS SAY THEY'D RESTORE FILIBUSTER IF IN POWER
Big Government ^ | May 25, 2014 | Kerry Pickett

The Democrats’ majority in the Senate is on the line this election season, and if Republicans take back control, the GOP will need to decide on new rules for the new Congress in the upper chamber. Some Republican members are willing to go back to way things were before Harry Reid took the gavel.

In the wake of the recent controversial nomination of Judge David Barron, author of the memo which gave a legal basis to kill Americans abroad with drones, to the first U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Republicans became apoplectic after getting word that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid threatened to change the filibuster rules on federal nominees again to make the process favor the majority further. Don Stewart, spokesman for Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, told Breitbart News on Wednesday that McConnell has already made it clear that, should the Republicans take back the Senate, decisions on rules will be made among conference members.

Why should we vote for them? Why give the GOP-e power?

It’s like giving a chimpanzee a machine gun. He doesn’t know what it is, what it’s for or what to do with it. He’s as likely to shoot you.
Or worst of all, he starts talking. He starts saying things like, “I won’t use this as they would have used it, because we’re better than that ....”.

He rolls over when they nominate homosexual judges. He says nothing when they were machinegunning us. He ... (rant continues in my mind for another 15-20 minutes)

If they kept the current rules in place, the Senate Republican leadership would actually have to do something.

Big Whup!

Get back to me when you are ready to govern according to the Constitution in a limited-government fashion.

Get back to us when you get a back-bone and decide to represent the citizens vs. your Corporate Cronies who feed you with campaign cash.

It does no good to be magnaminous. Democrats are not gentlemen or ladies - they’re barely civilized. Republicans should go nuclear on everything until after the mess is cleaned up. Shove it down their throats like they did.

Sheesh, this is the same playbook that killed the R party.

R Nuts Party, The Stupid Party.

Laughable.

This happens when we vote for democrats with an “R” behind their name.

So, when is this Tea Party business within the party suppose to start working?

Will we have to dump another nominee again? DOLE, MCCain, Romney? Next?

The comments in this thread, coupled with the abuses by liberals, illustrates rather vividly that the republic truly is dead.

A free nation cannot function when the a majority of the electorate subscribes to the ideals professed by either liberals or most of the respondents to this thread.

If you are complaining about someone restoring an essential check and balance to our gutted system then you are just as responsible for the death of this country as any rampaging progressive lib.

Senator Ted Cruz is NOT quoted in this article.

I'll wait to hear from him.

Well HELLO. The Republic IS dead. Has been for a long time. It’s just that the corpse is stinking now.

You think the comments above are harsh? Pfft. I’m all for rounding up the collectivists and doing to them what they plan for us. You know: re-education camps or executions.

I’m all for doing it today. But I’m 10 years ahead of the curve.

It is because I’m a heartless bastard? No - it’s because I would like to keep the entire planet from slipping back into the dark ages for 500 years.

Sorry, Mitchy, but the Dems have declared this to be a knife fight and even if you take the knife away it is far, far too late to go back to the Queensbury rules. Which reminds me of this scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Rules? In a knife fight?

And I would love to see Harry Reid treated like Harvey Logan... but I don't expect it.
