The Internal Revenue Service ruled it will impose a tax penalty on employers of up to $36,500 per worker for dumping employees into the Obamacare exchanges. The New York Times, which broke the story, reports: When employers provide coverage, their contributions, averaging more than $5,000 a year per employee, are not counted as taxable income to workers. But the Internal Revenue Service said employers could not meet their obligations under the health care law by simply reimbursing employees for some or all of their premium costs. The IRS ruling is an effort by the Obama administration to stop employers with 50 or

“Benefits” has become a monster. Gone are the days that one’s doctor (1) charged $20 for a one-hour visit, and (2) had nothing to do with one’s employment. Today the market is distorted in multiple ways, and taxes such as this one amount to a bandaid upon a bandaid upon a bandaid on gangrene.

Yet the US Government (Employer) can pay for a portion of the Obamacare costs for their employees (Congressmen and such). This is ok with the IRS?

Now an employee becomes a liability. You won't get dumped on an Obamacare exchange. You will just get dumped. Especially if you don't represent a good revenue stream for the company vs your salary/wage expense.

Distorted doesn't begin to cover it. I've paid off my mortgage, but I still have to put aside $300/month to cover property taxes. I have to put out $492 every two weeks for health insurance...whether I use it or not. I still have a $9,000 deductible to meet before that nearly $13,000 pays squat. That is my employer sponsored plan. I can't imagine how bad it would be if I had any vain thoughts of retirement. The bastards would put a lien on my property to pay for other people's health care.

How about 800 a month for prodperity tax that goes up ten percent a year and over a grand a month for worthless health insurance?

Welcome to Texas. No state income tax though. Yeah.

Yes. We’re screwed. Welfare pays better than work and has better benefits and is more secure.

But...but...that's not in the law. The IRS / Regime can't just impose taxes or penalties not passed by Congress.

Oh, silly me...we don't live in a Constitutional Republic anymore.

Employers will just drop below the 50 mark or not provide insurance and not reimburse employees the cost.

Rethink State Income tax free TN. Just watch where you relocate. Stay out of the DEM zones of Nashville and Memphis.

We are in Atoka, TN just 22 miles over the Tipton Co line, low property taxes, lower car ins, lower utility bills. Even license plates are lower, NO WHEEL tax. Small town living, country take your choice.

Or go Land between the Lakes area if you hunt and fish, just stay on the TN side. KY has a state income tax.

TN IS GOP controlled for the first time since reconstruction, we just need to get rid of some RINOS like our 2 US Senators, and our Governor. RINOS.

Businesses on the edge of the "50 employee" limit will start outsourcing some jobs. Low-skill jobs will be handled by a worker-rental place like Labor Ready, rather than by employees. High-skill employees will be shifted to a separate company, and will be "consultants" to their former company. Etc.

”The Internal Revenue Service ruled it will impose a tax [emphases added] penalty on employers of up to $36,500 per worker for dumping employees into the Obamacare exchanges.”
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

There are two major constitutional problems with the statement above from the referenced article imo. To begin with, the Founding States made the first numbered clauses in the Constitution, Sections 1-3 of Article I, to clarify the following. All federal legislative / regulatory powers are vested in the elected members of Congress; not in the executive or judicial branches, or in non-elected federal bureaucrats like those running the IRS.

And by delegating such powers to the IRS, Congress is wrongly protecting federal legislative powers from the wrath of the voters in blatant defiance of the clauses referenced above. After all, elected lawmakers would likely never make such “ruling” concerning taxes in an election year.

Next, the only federal government entity that the Founding States delegated the constitutional authority to make laws / regulations to appropriate funds is the House of Representatives, such power evidenced by the Constitution’s Clause 1 of Section 7 of Article I. But regardless that House RINOs read the Constitution out loud at the beginnings of the 2011 and 2013 legislative sessions, they are unsurprisingly asleep at the wheel with respect to non-elected bureaucrats usurping their unique constitutional power to appropriate funds.

Hey, if Harry Reid's Senate can initiate constitutionally indefensible appropriations bills like he did for Obamacare Democratcare, then why can’t any federal agency join the party and make appropriations regulations? After all, activist justices aren’t going to care.
