Conservatives float alternative to John Boehner
CNN ^ | 05/27 | By Deirdre Walsh

Some conservatives unhappy with House Speaker John Boehner's leadership are looking for a replacement, and recent moves by Texas Republican Jeb Hensarling are fueling speculation he wants Boehner's job in the next Congress.

Hensarling, who was part of Boehner's leadership team two years ago but left to chair the House Financial Services Committee, gave an expansive speech last week hosted by Heritage Action for America, a group that frequently and publicly clashes with Boehner.

Asked afterward if he was interested in running for speaker, Hensarling initially said he was "flattered," and said, "It's not something I've aspired to. It's not something I'm thinking about."

But then he left the door open, saying, "No, I haven't been Shermanesque, again I'm not sure there's any opportunity I want to foreclose."

While Heritage Action's Chief Executive Officer Michael Needham told CNN that his group doesn't get involved in leadership races, the conservative group gave Hensarling a high-profile platform to outline his own conservative philosophy for governing.

Needham said there is a "real need to take on sacred cows in Washington at time when the party too often looks after K Street," a reference to the downtown D.C. address for corporate lobbyists. He said, "Jeb Hensarling is a great spokesman and fighter for conservative values."

Cruz is in the Senate. You must have meant Trey Gowdy.

That’s the Senate.

We need more, more, more capable leaders.

(Did I say more? I meant to.)

Same as with the others.

No one in GOP house wants that job(GOP Speaker).
That is why Bohner is still there.

Now ‘rule with an iron fist’ Pelosi does want it back but she wont be getting it back anytime soon.

You must have meant Trey Gowdy.

Gowdy is my district's U.S.Representative but I think Trey may not have the desire to be SOTH. Look for him in a law enforcement/judicial position under a Republican administration.

If America “had a dream” to live prosperous and free,
Then the dream must killed, and consumed you see.
The Obamavultures continue feasting, while Boehner sits still,
“Both” parties know our pain as required collateral damage to fulfill.

What word did our Doormat Republicans not understand,
When Obama was first crowned The Tyrant of the Land?
Was it “Fundamentally” or “Transform” or “The United States of America?”

Why are these confused Leader Doormat Republicans still kept in power?
Why haven’t our TEA Party House Members sent Boehner to the back bench?
What does it take be it Benghazi, NSA, IRS, DOJ, or Delay to Death of our Vets?
Who are the Patriot House Members of “both” Parties to vote out Boehner?

When do We, the People rise up and declare that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!?
When do our elected House Members stand and deliver?
When does the well-deserved Impeachment of Obama begin?
When do our House Constitutional Checks and Balances kick in?

Back in DC, things are as calm as can be,
Obama lies, frames, blames, denies and delays,
Allowing the Obamavultures to feast as before,
While Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy, Ryan, and Issa
Hold open the race to the bottom door - - - -.

It is time, - - - - time a change in 2014.

Boehner only kept his speakership because about 18 hold-outs were wanting to vote him out for the current session. Bachman was one of those, but she changed her stand and voted for Boehner.

That 2013 vote should have been a big clue to Boehner that his speakership was in jeopardy. That may be why he has hinted several times that he would not seek another term as speaker.

Cantor and Ryan have expressed interest in the speakership.

The big problem is going to be the period between election night in November and the January 2015 new session. During the lame duck period, the ‘centrist/moderates’ could join with Dems to pass several bills they could not get through a regular session.

Boehner would join with the Dems to keep his leadership if he needed to. It’s a playbook that Willie Brown wrote in 1995 to keep the Dems in control in California, and it worked in the Senate in 2001. There needs to be enough of a cushion to prevent that if Boehner, Cantor and that group get thrown out, because they will not give up their piece of the honey pot so easily.

Hensarling would be a definite step up.
