The VA reminds me of the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

VA police stomped on the veterans head and neck

Why does the VA have police at all?

Laz, as usual, raises an interesting point.

America survived quite a long time without much in the way of “police”. Armed citizens took care of themselves and their neighbors.

Were we to pay bounties on criminals, the population of violent criminals would be quickly culled. With no legal costs (courts, lawyers) and no prisons, crime would no linger be a huge cost to America.

Bounties have the following advantages over cops and courts:
1. A bounty is paid once, not annually.
2. Bounties do not get pensions.
3. Bounties do not have benefits packages.
4. Bounties do not have unions.

Fire the cops!

Bring back bounties!

The German word for that is 'Sturmabteilung'. They did the same thing, except they put a bunch of gay guys in charge.

Too bad they didn't have a snappy nickname like NatCs to go with that...

I must ask (perhaps out of ignorance) but why does the VA need a Police Department? It seems that every Federal department has it’s own Law Enforcement Agency... I would think any Law Enforcement matters could be handled just fine by local or County Agencies. Perhaps, just perhaps it all comes down to CONTROL.

Every hospital has a security team, but those are easily purchased from security businesses. I’m doubting that hospitals in general run an internal security department. I don’t really know, though. If someone wants to correct me on that, please sound off.

“In his study of 18th Century slave patrols – the largely unacknowledged ancestors of today’s “professional” police agencies — historian Philip L. Reichel points out that “patrols had full power and authority to enter any plantation and break open Negro houses or other places where slaves were suspected of keeping arms; to punish runaways or slaves found outside of their masters’ plantations without a pass; [and] to whip any slave who should affront or abuse them in the execution of their duties….”

No-knock midnight raids; gun confiscation; “stop-and-frisk”-style demands for identification that quickly escalate to violence and arrest; summary punishment for “contempt of cop” – all of these practices would be immediately recognizable to 18th century slaves. They would probably find it incomprehensible that people who consider themselves to be free would allow such practices to continue.”

The headline implies a Veteran’s Administration cop instead of Virginia cop.

My bad. The story finally loaded and it was a V.A. cop.

First things first:

Ready-fire-aim I promise to read the story completely next time and

I didn't know the V.A. had cops. In our local facility they are rent-a-cops.

I don’t know. I don’t know why the Obama Administration feels its necessary to destroy ammunition held by the regular U.S. Military and buy up millions of rounds of ammo for BLT, IRS, Homeland Security, TSA, Dept of Interior, etc.

Bet you a dollar that will start changing.

Naw.

They are highly trained professionals, deeply skilled in the dynamics of social interaction, seasoned operators with immense tactical knowledge and a broad grasp of the continuum of lethal force application.

It would be futile to contemplate overcoming or even introducing the meme of opposition to their community-friendly, service-based delivery of social justice.

It is inconceivable that even one of >114 million American fighting age males with access to >300 million firearms would ever contemplate more than mild political disagreement such as this man writing a letter to his local police chief:

Or making a blog post:

And for those citizen inputs that are less than exquisitely deferential and polite, there are always moderators and ombudsmen who can handle irate citizens.

It's a good thing, too. Can you even imagine if someone like this...

...with a son looking like this...

...saw something like this...

and thought to himself, "these boys aren't prepared to operate on an even-force basis" that day?

Never happen.
