What Obama’s many messes really mean
NY Daily News ^ | 5-28-14 | S. E. Cupp

Another week, another scandal.

From Fast and Furious at the ATF to the Pigford fraud at the Department of Agriculture, the IRS’ political targeting to the State Department’s Benghazi mess, the healthcare.gov debacle at HHS to spying at the NSA and the DOJ, President Obama is running out of agencies and departments to defend in his two years left in office.

This White House has either had the worst luck in recent memory or it is responsible for breaches of public trust so vast, it’s no wonder public faith in our government is at a record low.

And now, we must add the scandal at the Department of Veterans Affairs — one so singularly sad, offensive and disappointing it almost feels wrong to put the callous deaths of at least 40 veterans who served our country in the same category as political tax targeting. Still, in some ways it is more of the pitiful same.

There are hearings that try to coax information out of high-level bureaucrats who never seem to know enough or to tell the entire truth. Desperate finger-pointing, that Republicans must somehow be to blame, from Obama loyalists. And endless delays and stall tactics to slow-walk or withhold key information until the public tires of the exercise.

The truth Democrats don’t want you to know is that these scandals are not about racism or Republicans or obstruction votes or even President Obama.

They are about the collapse of a big-government bureaucracy that consistently lets you down, but which the left depends on to keep your vote.

Obama’s many messes reflect a failure of liberalism, in my opinion.

A failure of liberalism indeed. The narcissistic 'never done construction' we know better than you crowd at their bloviating finest.

S.E. Cupp's analysis is dead on. "They (scandals) are about the collapse of a big-government bureaucracy that consistently lets you down, but which the left depends on to keep your vote."

Big bloated government bureaucracy doesn't work. We all know that. The problem with Obama is he doesn't want it to work. He wants it to collapse so he can become the biggest dictator of all time. The process is happening rapidly and succinctly described by the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Why do you think Obama exudes the I don't care attitude? The 'leave me alone I'm going to play golf or watch ESPN' attitude? He wants it all to fail and be replaced by socialism/communism with guess who at the helm.

A great list. Thank you for keeping up with this. I tried to for a while but was just overwhelmed with the 'something every day' data. I have days where I still can't wrap my head around the fact that with So Much Data on Obama the American people still reelected him.

We have a lot of work to do. .

Another great example of your point, Kalifornia!! Swartzinkennedy was a RINO so basically Kalifornia has been under democrat rule since Pete Wilson was governor and under Wilson the state’s bank was in the black, the roads got fixed and basically the infrastructure was in good shape. That was then. Now under democrat rule, the infrastructure is crumbling and getting worse by the day because much of that money is going to support the poor illegals from Mexico that the democrats in Sacramento welcome with open arms and 30% of those illegals end up in state prison and all at the expense of those in the state who still have jobs and who can’t afford to leave. Liberalism is corruption.

I’m going to be very fair here and state the truth as I see it. Government inefficiency and corruption preceded President Obama. He didn’t create these problems. It’s not like the VA was known for efficiency before Obama arrived. However, as president, it is his sole responsibility to fix these executive branch problems, and in that, he fails miserably! He wanted the job. He’s responsible.

I personally think it’s a fool’s errand to try to make the huge federal behemoth efficient and corruption free, because inefficiency and corruption are inevitable in byzantine organizations operated by 2.7+ million people. However, if one is a leftist/statist who thinks government is the solution to every problem, then it’s reasonable for us to hold that person responsible for delivering what they promise.

So government was a mess before President Obama was elected, but instead of fixing it, he’s making it much, much worse. One can’t assume authority as President of the United States and then simply wash their hands of responsibility for the organizations under them. Authority and responsibility go hand in hand.

They mean that President `You didn’t build that’ hasn’t done anything but draw paychecks his entire worthless career, except to destroy and spend.

i would ask Jay, “does it bother the President that he finds out about these things when every one else does? does he get angry about that? is he taking steps to ensure he is better informed? or does he like not knowing... his head in the sand?”

While I agree with the sentiment, I frankly don’t care if Obama’s mad, glad or sad. The WH is clearly hoping that some spurious claim of emotion will be viewed as an appropriate and comprehensive response to the problem.

Therefore, to add to my list I would say:

-So the president is upset. Big deal. What is he going to do about it, specifically? When will such action take place and when will we review the outcome together?

I heard this when Gray Davis was the Governor and have not heard it since, but in the 2000 census, it was the first time since California became a state that more people move out then moved in. That was 14 years ago. I am sure more ants have left while the grasshoppers come in from below the border or made by welfare bums. Remember what Moonbeam Brown said when Toyota pulled up and left for Texas - taxes are high but the smart ones make it work. So, according to his logic, those that stay are the smart ones and those that leave are stupid. Typical statist logic.
