This Memorial Day Weekend, one of Northern Nevada’s oldest veterans was allegedly robbed and held at gun point in his Carson City home.

World War II and Air Force veteran Jim Sorentino lives alone with a caretaker. He’s 101-years-old, and he said in his lifetime, he has never experienced anything like this home invasion.

He said it was around 5 a.m. on Sunday when two men kicked in a rear-garage door, and forced their way into Sorentino’s home in a gated community on Canvasback Drive. They held him and his female caretaker at gun point.

"The older one, the bigger one, carried a gun. Kept waving it around," said Sorentino.

He said he has never seen anyone so scared. Sorentino said the two men invaded the home, demanding cash. "They kept asking for the safe. Of course, I don't have any safe."

Jim Sorentino lives alone with a caretaker.

If the caretaker lives with him, as opposed to just stopping in, then he doesn't live alone.

That said, what a dreadful thing. I'm glad he and the caretaker are okay.

It’s a shame what Democrats have done to this country.

I can’t prove it, but heard the robber was Harry Reid.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team located Hernandez driving his own vehicle at approximately 6:40 p.m. in Sparks. Hernandez attempted to flee through residential areas, but was taken into custody by Sparks Police Officers after a short vehicle pursuit, followed by a foot chase. No injuries were reported.

Hernandez is charged with the same crimes as Burkhart, and bail was set at $250,000 each.

At approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1200-block of Canvasback Drive for a reported home invasion/robbery. The victim, 100-year-old James Sorrentino, was reported to be a U.S. Air Force veteran with an in-residence female care taker. Entry to the residence had been forced by kicking and prying at the door, and the victims were robbed at gunpoint by two adult males.

Neither victim required medical treatment. Approximately $30, along with miscellaneous property was taken.

Why does the article say “Robert Hernandez”, but the caption under the pictures says “Michael Hernandez”?

You’ll have to ask the site editors that. I just cut and pasted what they printed there.

It was a rhetorical question. I don’t think newspapers have proofreaders any more.
