Calif. Bill Tightens Out-Of-State Gun Purchase Laws: ‘We Don’t Have To Wait For Another Massacre’

Californians buying guns from out-of-state sources would have to go through the same steps required for in-state purchases under a bill passed Wednesday by the state Assembly.

AB1609 advanced to the Senate on a 48-23 party-line vote.

...

He said firearms purchased in nearby states with loose regulations, including Nevada and Arizona, are making their way into the hands of criminals in California.

The bill would require that firearms imported from other states must be sent to a California dealer who would then run the required state checks on the buyers to make sure they comply with state rules.

Federal law already prohibits buying a gun outside of your state of residence (without running the transaction through your local firearms dealer.)

This would seem to be directed toward those who MOVE their personal residence to California, and bring guns with them.

Which can hardly be a pipeline of guns to criminals.

Liberals built this “anything goes” society we now have to put up with. Liberal DemocRATS are responsible for these massacres. Not the guns. Americans didn’t take God out of our schools, DemocRATS did that. We no longer have guardrails and boundaries here in the country. If you want to murder people, liberals have taught the kids they have every right to do so. You can ban all the guns on the planet. You can shut down the NRA and put all of its members in concentration camps. You’ll never stop the killing until the idiot politicians finally figure out that it’s evil and mean people who are committing these “massacres”.

Making sense of anti-gun legislation makes no sense..

The basic idea of it is rididulous....

Disarming law abibing citzens is worse than silly..
Disarming criminals WILL NEVER HAPPEN.. CAN’T HAPPEN.. is not HAPPENING.. ANYWHERE...

Only around this is private and unlawful sale, which would be considered a “transfer, without giving lawful title to private property.

It’s a perfect example of another liberal idiot politician not even knowing what the hell laws are on the books already.

Their answer to everything is pass another law and/or raise taxes.

Great post.

Too many people in society today that view killing their neighbor similar to stomping on a bug.

I can actually still remember an era in the 1950s when a murder was a BIG news event. Now it’s like the traffic report.

in “Lefty World” all that will remain in their utopia are the elites and the mindless, zombified slaves to do the bidding of the ruling class.

The left isn’t calling for a ban on knives..gee I wonder why..maybe because they know banning knives is impossible, besides, their ultimate goal is what Hitler wanted, the total ban on guns so they could control all of us

Last time I checked you still can’t buy a handgun out of state you live in.

And many states will not sell a long gun to anyone whose state has laws against the same.

I believe that for over 20 years if you buy a gun from out of state it must first be sent to a Calif. registered FFL and he runs alllll the paperwork, exactly as if the gun had been sitting on his own shelf in the first place.

Perhaps this is against those moving to California?

Then this must be the “don’t move to California”-law.

My buddy left California to Alabama, had to return his cable box. The Cable company flatly told him that everyone was leaving.

He also had to hire a moving company, who told him moving out of California you have to pay TWICE as much as folks have to pay to move their stuff TO California —again, cuz everyone is LEAVING.
