Mr. G and Jellybean: A Burro And Goat Love Story Taking The Internet By Storm
CBS local ^ | 5/27/14 | Nick Janes

It’s the story of an unbreakable bond between two unlikely best friends whose equally unlikely reunion has gone viral.

Mr. G the Goat and his female friend Jellybean the Burro are truly inseparable.

Where one goes, the other is sure to follow.

“He does not let her more than 10 feet,” said Jan Galeazzi at Animal Place. “His eyes are glued on her at all times.”

The unlikely pair spent a decade in a 12-by-12 dirt plot with little food and water with no shade, shed or barn.

They were rescued from a life of neglect in Southern California, but they were split up and sent to different sanctuaries.

“What we didn’t realize, is the depth of their bond,” Galeazzi said.

I saw this tonight while reading a link from another unrelated thread. It really is something how being bonded to another being is so important... you can’t help but feel the “heartache” that dumb goat was going through... but it’s not just projecting our own loneliness onto animals... it was a real thing. We have all suffered the grief of separation and death.

I’m glad they are back together, but I really have to wonder about the people/person who made the decision to split them up in the first place. Animals bond very strongly, especially under traumatic circumstances.

Aw!

I wound up with a rescue goat and he was unhappy so I got him a little girl goat.

They’re inseparable.

They sleep in their little barn, all cuddled up, even when it’s warm.

He’s rather elderly so I worry what will happen to her, when he’s gone.

My sister & BIL had two horses that were long time companions. One died of old age and the other lay down to die. Got her to a vet, expensive recovery, and then boarded her w/ other horses. The others kicked & bit her constantly, and she again got down & died. Hooray for goat-burro love...the agape kind, of course.

You might have to get her a “boy toy” goat and hope they bond. A tough one.

She’d bond, fine.

She loves everybody.

She even tries to play with the Dobes although they would like nothing better than to eat her.

But she never gives up on them.

Er....*no*.

:D

I brought him home when my dad had back surgery.

He had him chained up at his cabin to “eat weeds”.

Poor thing was always crying in loneliness and fear.

It’s a miracle the “coyotes” didn’t get him before I did.

I almost lost him to pneumonia the first few weeks but he’s been going strong, ever since.

You shoulda seen the battle when he got well enough to want the goat back.

People really don’t appreciate how special goats are.

They’re quite dog-like with their affection.

That’s neat. Sounds like they are very sensitive. I’m glad you got yours a little friend to keep him company.

Most “domesticated” animals deserve love…don’t mean all!
