Now I wish they’d start talking about the gospel. That’s the only thing that is going to fix this sin problem.

One must wonder how selectively protecting certain folks over others makes things fall in with “equal protections”.
These ordinances are nothing but Christian discrimination laws. Completely unconstitutional.
Term limited? She was just elected. Is there a one-term limit for mayor in Houston?
If these things go to the voting stage at all, it means that they are a forgone conclusion. All the delays and "discussion" is just theater in an attempt to apply a fake veneer of "thoughtful process" to the fascism. Brian Camenker of MassResistance has told me that the Gaystapo makes sure they have the votes in their pocket before even attempting these moves. Otherwise, a loss would hurt their little feelings.
This happened to my otherwise conservative city of Ft Worth several years ago. The city council meeting, which dragged on into the early hours of the morning, was a freak show.
She was just re-elected to her second term and is term limited. City council members are limited to three terms.

That’s funny. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Quannelle X, who is their own younger version of Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, claim to be champions and protectors of the Black community. Since one large contingent of the anti-ordinance group is the Black ministers will be interesting to see which side SJL and X take.
Perhaps I should have said more of a disaster. Fortunately I moved out of the city 5 years ago and only go back when it’s rodeo time or I am forced to do so to see a business client.

Houston is a place to work. Some people actually claim to like it there. I have no idea why. I think maybe they are just trying to rationalize the things they can’t change.
There are rodeos in other places.
We live outside of Houston - far enough that we rarely even go into the city for anything. I have no desire to anyway - we have shopping and places to eat - newer, cleaner, but even we are being overrun by illegals. The only thing I can say for the area is that it is pretty - the heat/humidity allows for beautiful landscaping and I do enjoy the trees and flowers/plants everywhere.

You’re correct. I’ve worked on one committee or another since 1985 and my kids have even ridden in a trail drive in the past. Has a great scholarship program for 4-H kids and FFA. But I have seriously considered not being involved any more. Just becoming too diversified. It should be all about the cowboy, CW, 4-H and FFA and that doesn’t seem to be the case any more.
I respect your effort and contribution but it has become something it was never intended to be.... a place for neerdowells to sport their community service whilst engaging in drunken bacchanals dressed in “western” garb or sheik. The last BBQ I attended there nearly 15 years ago was my last. I thought it was disgusting. Civic leaders my butt.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. It is just rodeo Houston, Texas style. Regardless of the motivation, this group has been able to fund lots of college scholarships to kiddos who would otherwise not be able to attend. Kids who grow up on a farm put a lot of time, effort and money into their animals and it was awesome to see at least some of them get rewarded.
Re the BBQ you must be talking about the cookoff - just one of our favorite parts of the rodeo, although I thoroughly enjoyed the one trailride I was on.
Houston does have a lot of diversity in entertainment from the rodeo on one end of the spectrum to sports in the middle and the symphony and ballet on the other, as well as a lot of great restaurants. But, thanks to Mayor Porker, we won’t be participating in any of it in the future.

No zoning - a great blessing. You can find a free, open neighborhood like mine, or some anal retentive neighborhood where they micromanage every aspect of your property. Your choice.
Relentless urban sprawl - which is the way we like it. If you choose to live in an insectile "urban" hive, cool. We don't.
No mass transit - horsepuckey. What are all the empty busses I see everywhere ? What are the downtown toy trains, with 100 wrecks the first year ? The damn mass transit bureaucracy sucks 1% sales tax out of every pocket. We'd be much better off with NO mass transit.
Flat as a board - largely true.
Hordes of illegals - way too true.
