The tragic mystery of Malaysia Air Flight 370 continues, but the current search effort will not. After two months and a search that covered 329 square miles, investigators have not found a single piece of the missing plane or its contents, and now think they mistook their own electronics for black-box pings. CNN reported on this yesterday as the search nations reached a consensus on the failure:
The four acoustic pings at the center of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 for the past seven weeks are no longer believed to have come from the plane’s black boxes, a U.S. Navy official told CNN.
The acknowledgment came Wednesday as searchers wrapped up the first phase of their effort, having scanned 329 square miles of southern Indian Ocean floor without finding any wreckage from the Boeing 777-200.
Authorities now almost universally believe the pings did not come from the onboard data or cockpit voice recorders but instead came from some other man-made source unrelated to the jetliner that disappeared on March 8, according to Michael Dean, the Navy’s deputy director of ocean engineering.
The Washington Post confirmed it today:
Since early April, the search had focused on an area in which crews detected four deep-sea acoustic signals presumably from the black boxes of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. Thursday, the Australian agency leading the operation said that an underwater search of that zone had concluded with no signs of aircraft debris.
The search in the vicinity of the acoustic detections can now be considered complete, Australias Joint Agency Coordination Centre said in a release. In the judgment of investigators, the area can now be discounted as the final resting place of MH370.
That determination, coming more than two and a half months after the planes disappearance, adds further ambiguity to what was already one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history. With the acoustic signals leading to an apparent dead end, the search now enters a more daunting stage one in which crews will scour a broader area of the Indian Ocean without any fresh leads to pursue.
From both reports, it appears that the search is still going to focus on the southern, Indian Ocean route presumed since satellite data provided two possible arcs for Flight 370. The other would have taken the plane over land, and a rogue flight in that direction should have been picked up by military and/or civilian aviation radar. In August, private-sector firms will start scanning a much broader area of the projected range on the southern arc, but that will likely take months, if not years, to complete.
Meanwhile, the families still wait to hear what happened to their loved ones and get answers that may never come. It’s a tragedy with no end in sight for the families of the victims.
I wouldn’t put it past this administration to hide the fact they know the plane is in Pakistan because they don’t want to deal with the issue . . .
Pakistan. Or one of the ‘stans.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
Was MH370 shot down by the US while attempting to crash into the military base at Diego Garcia?

If those pings were from something else, have they been repeated since there were 4 in quick succession? If not, then there is another mystery.
I still say they will find it within 20 miles of it last known transponder location.
It would be tremendously difficult to hide the fact that an airliner is there and not supposed to be. Someone would leak it somewhere...............Of course if the rest of the world is trying to cover it up, then that’s a whole different matter..................
I still say that plane is sitting in Western China, hijacked by the Islamics out there (remember, the plane disappeared only a week after that sword attack that left dozens dead). The Chinese too embarrassed to admit that they’ve had it all along.
Well if a 777-200 goes up for bid on Alibaba, we’ll start to wonder....
I bought one on EBAY last week.
I still believe it was shot down by the US as part of a secret weapons test and it was meant as a warning to the Chinese that if they start deploying assets in the South China Sea we will not hesitate to take them out.
Of course what kills this theory is that our CIC is a wuss.

This is Abdul in Islamabad.
You got brake pads for a 2002 Boeing triple 7?
The plane is on the ground awaiting the next flight.
It’s not just that everything we “know” is wrong. It’s beyond that: we’re being distracted to ask the wrong questions.
Sure is a lot of smoke being generated by a plane that is supposedly at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.
I still think it's going to land in Buffalo 12 years from now with
no one on board.
RE: The plane is on the ground awaiting the next flight.
Screw the plane. Where are the passengers?
But the fake searches have told me everything I needed to know about the utter mendacity of the world's governments (including our own) when acting in concert to deceive.
Screw the plane. Where are the passengers?”
Just a guess: The plane was depressurized and taken high; passengers were dead very quickly. A mass grave is located close to the aircraft. I have no proof, but in my mind I am convinced the plane is intact on the ground. We will see it againlet's hope we see it quick enough to prevent a disaster.
