Email suggests Snowden went to NSA first

Video:

New reporting seems to confirm government leaker Edward Snowden’s claim that he tried to bring his concerns up the chain of command before leaking top-secret documents to the press.

“I actually did go through channels, and that is documented,” he told NBC in an interview on Wednesday evening. “The NSA [National Security Agency] has records, they have copies of emails right now to their Office of General Counsel, to their oversight and compliance folks, from me raising concerns about the NSA’s interpretations of its legal authorities.”

[snip]n the April 5, 2013, email, he questioned the spy agency’s legal rationale for snooping on Americans and asked them to confirm the hierarchy of U.S. law, people who had read the email told NBC.

He put the Constitution on the top, and under that said that authority fell to the system of federal laws, regulations from the Defense Department, rules from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and then, on the bottom, NSA policy.

“Yeahhh....Riiiight...and the info he released related to espionage in relation to our enemies.....how is that related to his altruistic releasing of info on domestic spying?”

And by enemies, you must be referring to people we consider allies?????

Snowden released vast amounts of information, which belies the lie that he is a patriot attempting to inform US citizens.

He dumped three varieties of information.

1. Information related to espionage related to enemies and adversaries...Russia, Iran, China etc.

2. Information related to spying on allies...Germany, France etc.

3. Information related to domestic spying.

Patriot my azz.

1. I never called him a patriot. I value his service and sacrifice. Based on your post alone, I wouldn't identify you as a patriot either.
2. I do not believe he was trying to inform just US citizens. I believe he was informing the world that their own governments were violating privacy as well.
3. I know nothing about you "azz." I believe your post shows how little you know about the Constitution.

You appear to make asinine assumptions and weak ad hominem “arguments” your bread and butter.

You ignored his treasonous actions.

Address the points.

“You ignored his treasonous actions.”

I do not consider them treasonous. I addressed all other points. But to make it clearer for you...

I consider the actions of the NSA, their supporters in Congress and the current Administration - and supporters, which appears to include you - to be treasonous. All are subverting the Constitution.

How is dumping intel data to foreign governments, that are our clear enemies such as Russia, Iran and China, not treasonous?

LOL...no wonder they are spying on us, with citizens like yourself.

Circumventing the Constitution is treasonous. No argument there.

But why are you ignoring the traitorous actions by Snowden?

“But why are you ignoring the traitorous actions by Snowden?”

I’ve not. I do not believe they are traitorous, as I already stated. Given that you can clearly read, why do you keep asking a question I’ve answered?

You’re ignoring facts.

Snowden released intel data related to intel and covert activities against our enemies and adversaries, Russia, Iran and China.

So you have to suspend reality to champion Snowden as a hero.

Objectively, he is not.

“So you have to suspend reality to champion Snowden as a hero.”

I’m beginning to think that you do not read for comprehension FRiend. Please read this carefully because I will no longer correct your posts. It doesn’t seem to help...

I’ve not called him a patriot.
I’ve not called him a hero.
I’ve not ignored a single fact about what has been released.

I did say I am thankful for what he has done and his sacrifice. The world owes him a debt of gratitude. I fear the world will not wake up and that true patriots here in the US will not wake up.

In the meantime, the government, apparently with your support, is circumventing our Constitution, undermining our allies and making a mockery of the words “patriot” and “hero”.

best

“I did say I am thankful for what he has done and his sacrifice.”

Well glad you cleared that up.

You are thankful for his leaking intel data regarding intel and covert activities against enemies Russia, Iran and China.

Logically, either that is the case, or you are ignoring that reality, as I stated before.

Perhaps you are a republican? They tend to be blind to the shortcomings of their wing of the Central Oligarchy Party... It was under their watch that the “Patriot Act” was passed.

Perhaps you shoot off your mouth too quickly?

You should read my reply, in Post 14, before ejaculating your thoughts.

I see you appointed yourself to be the arbitrator of who is conservative and who is not.

Pretty arrogant of you, don’t you think?

Not really.

I’m talking about the objective facts of what Snowden did.

He didn’t merely leak out domestic data, he leaked out data regarding intel operations and covert activities in relation to our enemies, including Russia, China, Iran.

If we give him credit for exposing domestic spying, he should also get disdain for aiding and abetting our enemies.

“I see you appointed yourself to be the arbitrator of who is conservative and who is not.”

No I have not. If you are conservative, you do not support the circumventing of the Constitution. If you are a RINO, you will undermine it regularly.

I have no idea which you are. Only you can decide that. So, which are you?
