President Romney Basks in Latest Triumph
New York Magazine ^ | 5/29 | Jonathan Chait

Posted on 05/29/2014 2:30:26 PM PDT by nickcarraway

When the history of this presidency is written, it will record that bold, progressive reforms dramatically reshaped the face of government, thanks to the vision, creativity, and political will of one man. And that man is Mitt Romney.

President Obama already has Gina McCarthy, who designed Romney’s cap-and-trade program in Massachusetts, running the Environmental Protection Agency for him. Coral Davenport reports today that the administration’s new regulations of power plants, due for release Monday, will be designed to expand the structure Romney built:

As governor of Massachusetts, Mr. Romney was a key architect of a cap-and-trade program in nine northeastern states, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. ...

Officials with the northeastern regional cap-and-trade program that Mr. Romney initially endorsed have played a significant role in shaping the new rule. In frequent trips to Washington over the last several months they have consulted with Ms. McCarthy and other top E.P.A. officials.

It’s Cap-and-Mitt!

Cap and Mitt.Photo: Joe Raedle/Getty Images Romney, of course, created the prototype for what became Obama’s national health-care plan, and proposed to take his plan national, before learning upon closer inspection that his plan actually amounted to the end of freedom in America. Now Obama is sneakily stealing another Romney accomplishment, thus transforming it from a centrist, market-based reform into a socialistic monstrosity.

This is really going to set back Romney’s hopes of winning the 2016 Republican primary. On the other hand, why would Romney even need to become president now? He’s already won.

I'm sure President Romney would've been better than a second Obama term.

But I couldn't say how.

Romney pushed gay marriage, now polygamy.
Romney pushed RomneyCARE, now ObamaCARE.
Romney pushed illegals for him, now open borders.
Romney began the attacks on conservatives, now everywhere.

No surprise that the GOP rat also pushed this
global warming nonsense. No surprise at all.

Everything Obama is doing is deliberate.

It would have been marginally tougher for House Republicans to oppose statist proposals from Romney than it has been for House Republicans to oppose them from Obama.

But that is exactly what the Liberals want. That way we will pollute less. It is all part of a plan to tax the wealth away from the middle class so that we are beholden to our keepers.

The difference is that these things are appropriate for states to do, but not the federal government. Little thing called the Constitution, I believe, which quite intentionally put few limits on the powers of states.

With multi-tier pricing, all you are going to be able to afford on the Internet is 300 baud, so electricity is not really an issue.

the little people use too much electricity and too much gasoline.

the peasants must be curbed, and controlled, by the virtuous upper classes, for the good of the earth. This wil be done by pricing these luxuries out of their reach, rationing them to those that can pay- or that the rich decide to subsidize ..windmills for Africa and the like

the rich will fly their private jets to conferences at 5 star hotels to lecture us, then retire to their private islands and luxury gated retreats to rest from the labors of saving the earth from ... err, nor for....the little people

I could never bring myself to vote for a pro-abort (Obama), even though I never believed Romney was sincerely pro-life.

But the downside to a RINO administration is that so many people would remain asleep. At least with the illegal alien Muslim terrorist in the White House, people are waking up.

There are at least 2 things.

First, and most important, Mitt Romney does not hate America or Americans.

Secondly, he seems to have a good grasp at how to make money, so he might well have improved the economy.

One more, his wife is quite sweet, so that would have been an improvement too.

I’m not a Romney-bot, but he’s a much better person than Barack Obama. I very much wish he had won the election.

My life has been a crap-fest since Oct, 2012. For various personal reasons which I won’t detail here.

None of these are Obama’s direct fault, but he’s done nothing to make things better for me or any other middle class people, or anyone really, except his corrupt cronies.

I don’t know if anything Romney would have done would have helped me or not, but gosh darn it I know he wouldn’t have spent the past 18 months trying to hurt me and people like me and that’s exactly what Obama has done.

Because he hates America and Americans and most especially he hates white, middle class Americans.

My president hates me, he’s pretty much said it right out.

So yeah, I’ll definitely plead guilty to really, really wishing Romney had won the last election.

I believe that Mitt Romney dislikes America, and despises conservatives, it is why he couldn’t stand to be in the party of Reagan, and left it, becoming over time a democrat supporter, fund raiser, and voter, until in October of 1993, after Clinton had defeated Reagan’s veep, Romney rejoined the republican party.

His family has the most anti-American family history of any presidential candidate we have ever seen.

Like being bit by a Copperhead is “not as bad as” being bit by an Eastern Diamondback, both are pit vipers but you have a much better chance of surviving the Copperhead’s bite. What would we do if one of those “Republiturds” was President when we were so fortunate that the Great Obama, Lord of all he surveys, wasn’t there to lead us from the evils of Capitalism into the loving hands of the Communists?

I think I’ll run down to my local Parish and light a whole bunch of Candles in the shape of the “Big O”. I’m so glad I was born in this time and place. When I’m done lighting the Candles, I will go into the Confessional to share my Sins, the first one being that I Voted twice for the Devil, Ronald Reagan.

A clear distinction which some people refuse to get . . .

Actually, some people -- like you -- refuse to get that motivation has zero impact on results. The results are the same regardless of the intention of the politician who advances the leftist agenda, as Romney HAS and DOES on abortion, government-run health care, the environmentalist power grab hoax, minimum wage, the homosexual agenda, judicial appointments, and 2nd Amendment rights.

Some people refuse to get that voting for leftists increases and empowers leftism every time.

First, and most important, Mitt Romney does not hate America or Americans.

It's just that NO ONE in Romney's family, currently or going back more than 100 years, has served in the American military.

How many Americans do you know who haven't had at least one son, parent, uncle, brother, or grandfather who was in the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines? I really, really have to wrack my brain to think of anyone. Frankly, if I found an American family that had been here for three or four generations without a single military veteran, I'd think that was EXTREMELY weird in a bad way.

Yeah. That's a family that really doesn't hate America. Been in this country for several generations, currently has four or five strapping sons, and not a friggin' one lowly enough to serve in the military.

Romney is an amoral opportunist. You can vote for amorality if you want and tell yourself that the creature doesn't hate America, and perhaps you're right. Neither does he love it. Vote for amorality at YOUR own risk. I will vote for something better.

Right on. Obama is great! Thank God Obama Won!

As if anyone here is saying "Obama is great!" You have to be deceitful in order to justify your flawed argument. However, you're right that I thank God Obama won, and if you voted for Romney, you should be DOUBLY thankful Obama won.

Kickass, if Romney had won, RIGHT NOW he would be using a Republican administration to advance government-run health care with on-demand abortion, the forced acceptance of the homosexual agenda, the environmentalist global warming hoax power grab, gun-grabbing, and activist liberal judges.

And YOU would be the one to blame for it. YOU. You would be the one living with the FACT that you voted FOR all that to happen. You would have to come here on FR and be accountable for all that slavery you voted FOR -- so you of all people had better be grateful the bastard lost.

Otherwise you'd be here TODAY whining and whimpering and caterwauling, "B-b-b-b-b-but I didn't vote for this, I voted against Obama! Waaaaaaaahhhh!!!"

You are lucky the bastard lost especially since you voted for him with ZERO intention of every being accountable for what you voted FOR.
