Yes...and sorry to hear of the abuse you went through. I recall Jackson referring to wine as “Jesus Juice”.
Seeing Jackson in the painting reminds me of the joke that “only in America can a poor black boy grow up to be a rich, white, woman”.

It doesn't matter. From a legal standpoint there's no real victim of a crime here.

You know why it's so hard to prosecute cases like this? Because the prosecution has no way of getting around a defendant who simply says: "Yeah, I said/did all those things. But I knew I was talking to an adult, not a child." Or in the Dave Herman case, the defense could very well have been based on a strategy that Herman knew all along that the child was fictitious.

If it sounds strange, just step back and ask yourself how a TV network can go out and set up an entire series of shows about catching child sex predators ... and yet none of the people involved in any of those cases is ever prosecuted.

Simply stupid.

Cognitive ability varies significantly by age. Possibly the old man's command of reality dropped below the average law enforcement worker's. Tax money feeders ridding the world of old nuts is easy pickings.

78 years old? Hell,I'm a lot younger than that and I *might* consider transporting a 20 year old girl...with her permission...to the Caribbean but that's about as bold as *I'd* ever get.

But the organization that worked with Dateline has a record of getting them prosecuted (it also mentioned it on the shows at the very end)

>>Number of predators convicted due to
Perverted-Justice.com since June 2004:

588

I don’t think Dateline is doing the sting operations any more but past episodes showed that certain perps did get prosecuted.

An acquittal, but:
>>Roisman’s is the only case that went to trial; the other 28 men pleaded guilty.

From Wiki on “To Catch a Predator” (Long Beach)
>> During this investigation, the presence of the Dateline sting operation in town was leaked online through a Craigslist internet posting. Nonetheless, 32 convictions resulted from this segment, which aired on January 30 and February 6, 2007.

Thanks. I'd be curious to know how all of those cases ended up.

I believe Dateline had to stop doing the sting operations because every NBC employee who worked on those segments was a potential witness in a criminal case down the road -- and their legal bills would have been enormous. I find it interesting that the one case that went to trial resulted in a complete acquittal of the defendant as well as a scathing criticism of Dateline by the judge in the case. And the article references a threat of a lawsuit against NBC by the defendant, too.
