Legacy at risk, Obama struggles to redefine foreign policy

President Barack Obama’s second term was supposed to be a crowning opportunity to make his mark on the world stage, but instead he's leading an intense effort to redefine his foreign policy record – and the odds look stacked against him.

An administration-wide public relations blitz, which Obama launched with a big foreign policy speech this week, has done little to quell critics who frequently pan his global approach as rudderless, as the White House lurches from crisis to crisis.

With just two and a half years left in office, Obama’s chances of forging a successful foreign-policy legacy by the end of his presidency face seemingly intractable challenges, ranging from Ukraine to Syria to the South China Sea.

While Obama has outlined a strategy that includes both a strong military and the diplomatic tools of alliances and sanctions to provide global leadership, it is unclear if he and his aides have the vision – let alone time - to change the perception of a presidency with eroding global influence.

This 2016, past time to ‘FIND’ an international foreign policy. But, scary too... The big zero may want to grant citizenship to the WORLD!

“RE-DEFINE” implies that he actually DID ‘DEFINE’ foreign policy.

That never happened.

It is questionable that “O” CAN even define ‘foreign policy’ in the first place.

There are no NO limits to our poseur-in-chief’s limitations OR the MSM eagerness to defend them.

His only legacy will be worst President since Jimmy Carter AND that Affirmative Action DOES NOT WORK. Not then. Not now. Not ever. Hard work and proven abilities based on merit, nothing else, not sex or color of skin.

We are now 67% of the way through the Obama Era.

The die is cast. There will not be any major foreign policy initiative to cast any Obama legacy. The best we can hope for is that the damage done in the remaining 900+ days of Obama is minimal.

And hope that the next president is not yet another liberal acolyte of Saul Alinsky.

"Legacy at risk"?

I don't know about that. I think he's got the "Worst President EVER!" title all to himself.

How many decades will it take to recover just from the economic damage alone, not to mention repairing the damage from the "divide and conflict" social warfare he's been waging here against US?

Obama’s legacy is not at all at risk. He is, far and away, the most incompetent, bumbling president this nation has ever had. Every single thing Obama has touched has turned to rubbish.

Obama’s legacy is that he beat Jimmy Carter as the worst president! That is Obama’s legacy.

“O” has squandered and compromised decades of US foreign policy achievement.

Whoever takes the WH will have to set about the task of rebuilding from scratch.

THAT will be tough in itself! However, it will take a Herculean effort getting allies (or leaders still willing to call themselves US allies) to overlook the past and to trust America AGAIN.

Legacy at risk? He’d have to achieve something positive for this to happen.

Can’t wait to see Obama on the lecture circuit after his presidency is over.

I can just imagine how much whining he will do, as he talks of the struggles he had to pass Obamacare, and struggles to do cap and trade, and how the GOP fought him tooth and nail on everything.

I predict that he will blame all of the problems of his presidency on the GOP, and the media and liberals will lap it all up.

They have this all set up, so Obama himself is blameless. He will also become very wealthy, similar to the Clintons. Bill Clinton raked in over $100 million after his presidency was over, just in speaking fees and “donations” to the Clinton foundations the Clinton family runs.

he is a major disappointment to all of those who backed him the first time... the media, liberals, Democrats... young college students... honestly, he was placed on such a high pedestal... his supporters had waaayyyyy too high hopes for him... he even received the Nobel Peace Prize based on what they all hoped for... and none of it has materialized... in fact, he--"the one"--has been a failure... and they all know it, but they cannot admit it... they cannot bring themselves to admit that they were sooooo wrong about him... so they continue to prop him up, but not because they believe in him, but because of their own pride... mis dos centavos...
