The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.

I started reading this and had to release a large cloud of planet killing methane.
For a moment, I thought they had decided to give him the prize for a second time. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
After all, isn’t he the perfect choice to be the first person to receive it twice?
Nothing but a waste of time, the joker is not a world leader, he is a second class assclown at the most. Getting a Nobel prize for doing nothing. Picked because he was the frist black president and they wanted to show that they were not racists.
Imagine giving that award to someone before they did anything you just praised them for.
He was briefly Prime Minister, and when that stint ended, without applause, he went on a mission to justify himself.
Getting Obama, at that time the world's darling, to come to Oslo, allowed Jagland to share some of the global spotlight (and to go total fanboi) for two days.
If Obama wasn't such a narcissist freak, he would have declined the prize, or at minimum, not gone to Oslo.
