ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A Missouri-based Army drill sergeant has been accused of sexually assaulting 12 female soldiers during the past three years, including several while he was deployed in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Angel M. Sanchez appeared at a pretrial hearing at Fort Leonard Wood on Wednesday and could face a court-martial later this year, defense attorney Ernesto Gasapin said Thursday. The Washington Post first reported on the charges against Sanchez.
Military court records indicate that Sanchez is accused of using his supervisory position as a drill sergeant with the 14th Military Police Brigade to threaten some of the women he’s accused of assaulting.
He is accused of sexually assaulting four women and assaulting eight others by touching them inappropriately, said Tiffany Wood, a Fort Leonard Wood spokeswoman.

It seems like most of the sergeants charged with sexual assault of female soldiers in their command are black or Hispanic, while most of the officers charged are white - most officers are white, of course.
Let’s just throw race and ethnicity into the pot, along with sexual preference, and make for a really uncomfortable discussion in polite circles.

I have a HS bud that was a DI for a Female Basic Trainee unit. He said when he walked though the barracks a required (after being announced), a portion of the trainees would “flash” him.
So the US military puts males in a position were they are in charge of females that try to entice him.

This issue is at least 2 fold, a lack of leadership accountability, and stupidly mixing the sexes and expecting nothing to happen.

However, he did tell me that there is no difference between men and women, which is a statement I wonder about. He further told me about a women sent to Army Ranger School, but the story was covered up.
