A Cincinnati man says that a group of black teenagers yelled at him and a group of white people “Why are you white people in our neighborhood?” before attacking him, in what police are investigating as a hate crime.
The attacks occurred at the three-day Taste of Cincinnati event last Sunday.
The annual event attracts over half a million visitors to the area. But it also apparently attracted violent groups of young people.
A police report obtained by The Daily Caller classifies attacks on two men, Scottie Hunter and Randy Ulses, as hate crimes.
The report says that Ulses, white, was being punched in the face by a black male and kicked by a group of black males. Hunter, who is also white, was assaulted by a group including black males and black females, according to the report.
The hate crime is classified as “Anti-White” on the report.
Reached by phone, Hunter confirmed that his attackers mentioned race before beating him.

Not sure what you'd do in this situation. I might simply reply, "Just passing through", then look to make as quick and safe an exit as possible. If that isn't possible I remove my pistol, repeat my statement, and prepare to fire if they decide not to play nice.

There's a local Black radio station there that drums up hate before
any event under the guise of 1st Amend Privilege, but what they're always
calling for is a Rise of the Black Man and revenge against Whites. A constant
drum beat of woe-is-me.
That’s a good question, as while no knives other than ballistic are illegal in Ohio, they have no preemption, so Cincinnati may have its own laws. However, typically they need two criteria: first that the knife cannot be concealed, and second, that it must be dual use as a tool.
A knife forum specifically mentions several knives that are pure weapons, among which is the karambit I pictured.
So in this particular case, oddly enough, I would recommend a survival type mini-hatchet.

It is just one foot long, is in a carry holster on your hip so it is not concealed, clearly qualifies as a tool, yet could do serious hurt even on a gang of attackers. As typically both it and the holster are black, it would not be very obvious at night.
If asked about it by a police officer, it can easily be called a work tool.
You are right. Definitely do not remove the stock on a shotgun. In addition to loosing any real sense of controlled accuracy, a pistol grip like the one on the carbine in the picture delivers the full shock of the kick directly to the trigger wrist. Even with bird shot, it is painful and not sustainable beyond one or two rounds.
If you happen to have a few extras, in just about any caliber, let me know, I would love to have some, but if I go out and buy $4. a round bullets, my wife is not going to be safe to sleep with.

I’m not defending the violence, but I definitely understand the question. I’d imagine the whites involved will never put themselves in that position again...

Definitely; whites in denial about it are playing with their lives. Anything beyond a 10:1 ratio is extremely unsafe; 10:0 is even better. We rarely have racial incidents like this here in NJ because whites aren’t in denial about it.
