Amid jubilation Saturday over the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from captivity by the Taliban, senior Republicans on Capitol Hill said they were troubled by the means by which it was accomplished, which was a deal to release five Afghan detainees from the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Top Republicans on the Senate and House armed services committees went so far as to accuse President Obama of having broken the law, which requires the administration to notify Congress before any transfers from Guantanamo are carried out.
“Trading five senior Taliban leaders from detention in Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl’s release may have consequences for the rest of our forces and all Americans. Our terrorist adversaries now have a strong incentive to capture Americans. That incentive will put our forces in Afghanistan and around the world at even greater risk,” House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard P. McKeon (R-Calif.) and the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, James M. Inhofe (Okla.), said in a joint statement.

That tweet is circulating all over twitter..he says that he wants ALL Gitmo detainees released, for the Afghan children..but here is the thing, maybe the tweet was deleted from the father’s account because I went to his twitter feed(May 28th) and could not find that tweet, maybe I missed it
Don’t forget, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was NOT captured on the battlefield. He left the U.S. base camp in Afghanistan in 2009 of his own free will and turned up with the Taliban a short time later.

Could it be this American 'soldier' not only went AWOL- he turned sides - costing the lives of patriot soldiers attempting to rescue him?
Perhaps headlines today should be corrected to read, Obama releases 6 Jihadis instead of the fawning, compassionate reports suggesting Obama cares about our troops and went all out with "intense negotiations last week".
Bergdahl's recovery "is a reminder of America's unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield."
The transfers happened after a week of intense negotiations mediated by the government of Qatar, which will take custody of the Afghans.

I would go so far as to surmise that this administration did NOT exchange one 'captive' American soldier for 5 very dangerous Afghan GITMO 'detainees'...rather, this administration freed 6 dangerous Afghan jihadis under the auspices of concern for our troops as damage control from the VA scandal which has already resulted in administration casualties (Shinseki,Carney).
