Dana Hills High School students were released from a four-hour lockdown Thursday after an empty rifle or shotgun carrying case was reportedly found in a campus parking lot. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies were at the school for an unknown reason when they were made aware of the incident around 11:45 a.m.

My son is texting me from inside. He’s saying that he’s fine and they’re barricaded in a room,” one parent told KCBS.

Dozens of officers and the Orange County sheriff’s SWAT team with its armored vehicle rolled onto campus and began an all-out search of classrooms, lockers, cars and the school grounds for a weapon. Authorities say there were no threats received.

“You’ll see the SWAT team is out here. The critical incident response team is also here, not because any weapon was seen or a threat was made, but simply because we need the additional manpower to search a campus of this size,” said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County sheriff’s department.

It seems to me these incidence response folks are getting bored with all their police state readiness but no revolution to fight. How would you feel if you got suited up for the game and had to stand on the sidelines the entire game? These jackboots are like dogs pulling on the leash for some red blood. I bet they are lathering up with foam and making animal sounds in their sleep. For God’s sake, someone get them out on the football field so they can let off some pent up testosterone.

Read the letters at the end of the article — scathing.

I just did... Scathing indeed, I certainly would hope that the kids would learn from this that their freedom is a very fragile thing and that men with guns aka JBT’s, can take it away from them on just about any pretext.

The locals should go salt the school grounds with empty brass.

After weeks of finding brass every day or every other day this foolishness would stop.

Check the calendar, I bet it was finals week. Very creative way to get out of a test. A drill is also a possibility.

When everybody screeches that they should “do something” in the wake of the latest school shooting, what do you think they mean?

The current administration continues to blur the lines between educational and correctional facilities - a notable exception being the elite versions of both.

Please, as a teacher, I beseech you to remove your children from government education.

Upon further investigation, it was decided that the object in question was an old guitar case. It was successfully detonated by the bomb squad without any injuries. /S

whether they were or weren’t, note that this episode tied
up “dozens” of them for four hours. they then, thought that
nothing else could come up where they might be needed more.
