WOW! Republican Sen. Thad Cochran: “I’m Glad to Be Involved” in Obamacare Effort

Senator Thad Cochran told reporters this week, “I’m glad to be involved,” in the Obamacare effort. Breitbart.com reported:

When Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) goes on the record with reporters, it always seems to bring a surprise or two.

This time, in an interview with veteran Washington Post reporter Dan Balz at a campaign stop, Cochran accidentally called Obamacare “an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable.”

“I’m glad to be involved in that effort,” Cochran added. According to Balz, Cochran was asked how he evaluated the state of play over the health care law. But afterward, a Cochran adviser phoned Balz to claim it was a mixup.

“A short time later, a Cochran adviser called to say there was disagreement aboard Cochran’s bus about whether the health question had been about Obamacare or the problems at the Veterans Administration,” Balz wrote. “He said Cochran was among those on the bus who thought the question was about the VA.”

Let’s hope that statement is the rallying cry of his constituents and the death knell to his tenure.

Hellooooo! MS. Anybody home? As usual, a once partly effective legislator has reached his/her “use by” date. Time for Thad to go.

Confused old man!

Yes - age is taking its toll. Being slotted as a career politician has also affected his mind. I noticed a dearth of any campaign ads that showed him doing anything active even though he was geared up as a fisherman in a still pic in one of them. I get the sense that they don't want the majority of folks to see his true condition.

GO MCDANIEL!!!

You have to wonder, that after they signed it, did they even read past page one? Or just have a staffer give them the Cliff Notes on it with only the “good” parts outlined. Shouldn’t have taken long to do. Possibly the good things about the bill...........an easily readable font was used to print it?

.....in an interview at a campaign stop, the confused 89-year old Cochran accidentally called the Obamacare debacle “an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable.” “I’m glad to be involved in that effort,” Cochran added enthusiastically.......

Mmmm.....now might be a good time to spread the word that Obama is coming down to campaign for Cochran.

ROTFLOL.

This is the Senate race in the State of Mississippi. The race will be decided on Tuesday, not in November. November is completely irrelevant.

The primary is the only opportunity for Democrats to cast a meaningful vote and they will be voting for Cochran. Also voting for Cochran will be those who are part of his corrupt pay for play schemes. All the others will be voting for McDaniel.

They Republicans all voted against Obamacare most of them for show and to create the emotional wedge to draw us in to vote for them in 2010.

The lie of their vote “against Obamacare” was already being told in the GOP campaign slogan “repeal and replace”.

The Republicans have also stated that they wanted a more “market friendly” health insurance “marketplace”.

Romney said there were “freeloaders” in the healthcare system when he campaigned for president.

Romneycare in Massachusetts forced everyone to buy higher priced health insurance to bring more money into the healthcare system bailing out their financial woes.

Obamacare does the same on a nationwide basis with liberal window dressing like abortion coverage and pre existing condition coverage on the side. The Republicans want to keep Obamacare with some window dressing of their own.

Now or November isn’t really my point. The fact that principle matters and voting for them is. Sometimes that will mean we lose. But if we continue to vote for unprincipled closet Democrats to ‘win’, we deserve everything that happens to us.

Well those of us that DON’T elect closet Dems don’t deserve it, but we should fight all the harder to stop our supposed fellows on the right from doing it. Because we will suffer right along with them.

The Republicans want to keep Obamacare with some window dressing of their own.

They sure do, never mind that it is essentially unconstitutional and fascistic - but then, that's what the chamber of commerce is all about - indenturing an entire nation.

If they want to open a market place, I’m find with that, as long as not one soul is required to participate. Indeed were they good men not one dime of Tax payer dollars should go to supporting this “market place” either.

Let it be a mall, where the participating vinders support it. The Government of the State should exersze no mandate on what is required for the people to buy, and Washington shouldn’t even know about the thing.

The only legitimate role for our State Government in a market place is mitigating disputes between sellers and clients regarding who sold what to whom.

The individual mandate is a common thread that runs through Obamacare and Romneycare and its wrong. People should not forced by the government to buy health insurance.

But its what the healthcare industry wanted and I guess there are “freeloaders” showing up at hospitals, but a lot of that would have been addressed with a more secure border, but then again there are interests that want a very open border for the cheap labor it provides them.

Ultimately Obama care will kill the health insurance industry. If we don’t provide an out of pocket tax free replacement option such as restoring health savings accounts a lot of people are going to get hurt.

We don’t need to replace Obamacare, but we do need to undo most of the damage 50 years of private socialized medicine has done to our country and healthcare system.

Simply put the tax code of the Federal Government has driven people’s health savings into collectivized “accounts” called health insurance companies. The problem is these health insurance “Accounts” are not really savings accounts at all, but demographic bombs like that of the federal ‘Social Security’ system just currently a lot better managed.

Nonetheless The effect of theses company’s removing of the individual from the position of being concerned about cost in the making of their health choices over the last 50 years, has invariably led to progressively poor health and higher costs.

This is not a problem we can solve over night. The money simply isn’t there anymore it was squandered long ago.

We need a better way that what I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Healthcare costs started exploding when Medicare and Medicaid came in (LBJ’s Great Society) during the 1960’s.

Those programs represented a partial government takeover of healthcare with the resultant consequences.

OK, I've seen this here on FR a few times. I'm glad the crusty, old fart is showing his true colors. But, here's the problem: Most people on FR already loathe Thad Cochran; so, is this message getting out beyond the pages of FR? Is this getting to the voters of Mississippi? Is the McDaniel Campaign all over this? If McDaniel would have said this, it would be all over the airways right here before the Election. What is the McDaniel camp doing with this? If the answer is "Nothing", then maybe Chris doesn't want this badly enough.
