A Twitter posting by the father of the serviceman released from Taliban captivity Saturday in exchange for five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay is raising deep questions about what exactly the Obama administration did to get Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl out of Afghanistan.
Here’s the tweet, which Robert Bergdahl posted May 28 – before his son’s release – and deleted Saturday, according to Twitchy.com.
Whatever else it might be, “God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen!” doesn’t sound like a rousing call to patriotism.
ABalkhi is the Twitter handle of Abdulqahar Balkhi, a Taliban spokesman.
It’s important to remember the elder Bergdahl posted the message while his son was still in captivity and might have been willing to say anything while talking to the sergeant’s captors. It’s also unclear whether the tweet was intended to be public.
But the contents of the posting are making a lot of people suspicious.
The circumstances of Bergdahl’s capture are already odd — no one knows why he left that Army base five years ago and a USA story published Saturday shows Bergdahl is thought by many in the military to have either deserted or gone AWOL.
Also, the release of Guantanamo Bay terrorists in exchange for him violates a longstanding U.S. policy of not negotiating — at least publicly — with terrorist organizations. It also violated U.S. law that requires Congress to receive 30 days’ notice before Gitmo prisoners are released, according to top Republicans on the House and Senate armed services committees.

I would need to see some of his thoughts from before his son was captured.
The son is a deserter & a traitor, and the father gives aid & comfort to the enemy. And of course Obama lionizes both...not surprised or shocked. It takes one to know one.
Would the POS 0dumbo or his staff have told the traitor’s father before the exchange that odumbo was violating law to get the traitor freed>

A larger strategy is at work here. This is just one of many cases and a continuing trend of expanded use of executive power. Violate a law here, another law there, bypass congress, impose regulations by agency mandate, legislate on the fly, refuse to testify, etc. Get the populace used to the idea of absolute and arbitrary rule.

I thought so too, until I read the tweet. Yikes! The clarity was stunning. The context was obvious.
AND.. Daddy is in no hurry to recant.
AND.. Republicans are being smarmied by the administration, by way of the words, “Israel does it.” (Prisoner exchanges.)
Be ready for those words ad nauseum.
The GOP needs to play a smart strategy here. Let the guy play us for fools while we look for evidence.
A few years ago, long before Duck Dynasty, I was in a crowd of people and I was standing next to a guy with a DD type beard. He was obviously a street person, not a TV star and a small roach crawled out of his beard and onto his shoulder. He didn’t seem to notice so it must have happened a lot.

I was wondering when someone was going to bring that up. It's the first time I've read it since talk of his release started flying...I remember when he went missing: NO ONE goes anywhere off-base alone. I'm suspicious of both the father AND his son...the whole thing stinks, right on up to the WH and their statements on loosening the requirements of the laws governing such prisoner exchanges...
It can’t get any lower then this. The US has just released five hardened Islamic terrorists in exchange for an American traitor, who they will welcome as a hero. You just can’t make this stuff up. The saddest thing about this is that the American people will not pull themselves away from their favorite reality show to even notice.
Next time we are hit, and we will be hit,and when you see a burst of flag waving from the American people in response, remember it is mostly all phony. We as a people do not have the stones to see it thru. We do not have the staying power or the ruthlessness needed to win. I hate to say it, but as a people the 21st Century American has become a loser.
