Rice Dodges on Deserter Question (Bowe Bergdahl)
The Hill ^ | Sunday, June 1, 2014 | Kevin Cirilli

Posted on 06/01/2014 8:40:47 AM PDT by kristinn

U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice avoided questions on Sunday about whether Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was released by the Taliban in exchange for five detainees on Saturday, deserted the Army.

ABC News "This Week" host George Stephanopolous asked Rice whether such allegations would be "investigated." "If it is found that he did, will he be disciplined or has he already paid the price?" he asked.

"Certainly, anybody who has been held in those conditions in captivity for five years has paid an extraordinary price, but that is really not the point," Rice said. "The point is he's back. He's going to be safely reunited with his family. He served the United States with honor and distinction."

Yep. It also says that Foolsucka is willing to trade dangerous terrorists for someone who ideologically sounds very close to him and his anti-american comrades. Not the best optics for a U.S. President to present to the American public.

It’s a terrible trade that makes no sense apart from some other reason. I suspect it’s part of a bigger negotiation with the Taliban about how things will be during and after the 2016 pullout.

How could he “serve with honor and distinction” when he deserted? This is the usual LIES by the Uber-LIAR administration of Clown Prince nobama.

This trade was illegal as congress was not consulted and did not authorize it.

According to the administration's defenders, the trade was legal. And they have given two reasons why this is so.

One, there were "exigent circumstances."

Two, when Obama signed the law in question, he made comments that in effect amended the bill. (As ridiculous as that sounds, lib's really are saying that today.)

So you see, when Obama doesn't like a law, he can ignore it for any reason whatsoever. It's called the royal prerogative.

I wonder how soon before Obummer takes to the Rose Garden microphone to claim he "had no prior knowledge" of the background and history of the released prisoner of war.

However, I don't think THAT worn-out excuse is going to work for him again.

They traded a deserter...

...for some seriously bad dudes.

What video will Ubama blame when US soldiers and citizens are kidnapped for more trades?

Served the army with honor? Only if he was a planned plant to spy on the enemy, but I haven’t heard that.

Just wait for Obozo to pardon all blacks on death row or in prison in general.

“He served the United States with honor and distinction”

oh really, Susan. Even for you, was that last part really necessary? You are after all answering a question about whether this guy was a deserter.

Do you even think about what someone gives you to read? Idiot.

and Snuffleupyerass smiled and went on to the next softball pitch?

I agree. My guess is that Obama did the trade to deflect from the VA scandal. The timing is just too much of a coincidence. Now Obama can again brag about being pro-military. The trade will come in handy at the next press conference.

A question will come up about the VA mistreating vets. Obama will answer by praising himself for freeing a POW.

Chuck “sleepy drunk” Hagel will probably pin a medal on this traitor and make sure he gets back pay.

The US would have been better off if a few of the brave men and women who served in Viet Nam hadn’t come back. Hagel, McCain and Kerry are a few of them.

I don’t think distracting from the VA scandal was the main purpose of this. It was a terrible trade and looks terrible which is why it was timed to surface on a weekend. They were under pressure to do the trade as part of larger negotiations with the Taliban, I think. If they could have done it in secret they probably would have. As it is, they’re going to spin it as positively as they can and then hope it goes away quickly, which the press will assist with.

But they also know that if anyone questions it, they can turn around and paint those questioning as ‘being unpatriotic’ and criticizing a US soldier who was held captive for five years. So they’ll have that base covered as well.

To them, Dissent is Treason.

Just another bizarre, inexplicable, unaccountable maneuver by a president of unexplained origins and affiliations in favor of radical Islam.

There’s really nothing to worry your pretty little head about. It’s not the first, and it certainly won’t be the last.
