Anti-gay group calls for boycott of Harvey Milk stamp
MSNBC ^ | May 29, 2014 | Emma Margolin

Posted on 06/01/2014 8:52:31 AM PDT by EveningStar

Calling slain civil rights hero Harvey Milk a “predator” on its website this week, the fundamentalist Christian group American Family Association (AFA) urged members to refuse any mail postmarked with a recently-released commemorative stamp featuring the late San Francisco supervisor.

“Harvey Milk was a very disreputable man and used his charm and power to prey on young boys with emotional problems and drug addiction,” reads the AFA’s press release. “He is the last person we should be featuring on a stamp.”

Finally, someone’s getting it. To destroy the gaystapo agenda, don’t focus on gay marriage. Focus on their full agenda, which is completely eliminating the idea of two distinct genders, and of course legalizing pedophilia.

I don't buy commemoratives anyway. Just the basic forever stamps — the ones with Liberty, Freedom, Equality and Justice on them. Of course, those four qualities of life in the US are rapidly disappearing and becoming more of a farce.

“He is the last person we should be featuring on a stamp.”

Well that seems a bit extreme to me.

I mean if they came out with a Joseph Stalin or Carl Marx stamp I might agree.

By any real standard Milk was a vile villain but hardly the last person we should feature on a stamp.

And if we are talking Americans only I would put Margret Sanger at the bottom of the list.

But I do agree the man should not be on a postage stamp. But it is hardly surprising that he is given the leanings of the Obama administration. The good has become evil and the evil has become the good with these people..

Actually, three of the four - liberty, freedom, and justice - are being sacrificed for the fourth - equality. Not equality under the law, which is also being eroded, but equality of outcome. The Dems are trying to create a vast proletariat ruled by a technocratic and governmental aristocracy, and kept distracted by an entertainment elite.

I agree; it is one thing not to buy the stamps, quite another to refuse to accept mail bearing that stamp. And is not liking the subject of the stamp even a legal reason for refusing to accept the mail? I'm not sure a mailman could legally return a letter with legal postage unless it is delivered to the wrong address or the person has moved with no forwarding address.

Some years ago, after 9-11, they issued an “Eid Greetings” muzzie themed stamp. FWIW, Eid al-Fitr is the last day of Ramadan fasting and is a kind of muzzie yuletide.

The postal jerk tried to sell me one. I said “No! I want a flag stamp.”

“But they cost just the same.”

Idiot.......

It does seem silly. What, are they going to stand by their mailboxes every day waiting for something to arrive with a Harvey Milk stamp on it just so they can refuse to accept it?

I don't think I receive a dozen pieces of mail in a year that have actual stamps on them, if that. Most everything I receive have printed stamps and the small few with adhesive stamps use the generic American flag ones.

The only thing it'll accomplish is making all conservatives look like unhinged loons, which is of course furthering the gay agenda. Lefties couldn't plan it any better if they tried.

And one of his ‘lovers’ killed himself. So, that might be a stereotype gays would not like to be associated with, a high suicide rate, sad when anyone does it but Milk is one of if not the most famous homosexual in US history and such a thing happened in one of his relationships.

The only thing it'll accomplish is making all conservatives look like unhinged loons

The AFA has been making conservatives look like unhinged loons since 1977. They boycott anything and everything that they perceive as immoral, the end result often being a backlash that brings support and free publicity to those companies they're boycotting.

As far as I can tell, they've only had two successes; in 1986 they joined forces with feminists to have Playboy and Penthouse pulled from the shelves of 7-11. They tried the same thing shortly after with Walden Books and were basically told to get bent.

In the early 2000s they succeeded in forcing clothier Abercrombie and Fitch to remove their borderline pornographic catalogs from the store's checkout counters. (It should be noted that plenty of reasonable people found these catalogs offensive, particularly since they were marketed towards teens.)

The AFA failed epically in going after Ford for advertising in gay magazines. Ford acquiesced at first but the public backlash was so severe that Ford apologized and then doubled-down on gay advertisements. Pretty much every company that has ever paid for an advertisement in a gay magazine has been on the receiving end of an AFA boycott. Whether or not they felt it is debatable.

In 2012, the AFA reminded Americans that Archie Comics still existed when they boycotted it for having a gay character.
