GRIFFIN, Ga. -- A 43-year-old Griffin police officer was shot and killed while off-duty early Saturday morning and the man who police say fired the gun is in critical but stable condition after being shot by the officer's brother.
Officer Kevin Jordan was working an overnight security shift in uniform at a Waffle House restaurant in Griffin when two men and a woman caused a disturbance around 2:30 a.m., Griffin Police Lt. Mike Richardson said. Jordan escorted them to the parking lot, when the woman identified as Chantell Mixon began physically fighting with him.

Chantell is white FWIW.
Condolences to the officers family. Thanks to his brother for trying to defend him.
Nothing good ever happens at 2:30am.
You better think again. Trash comes in all colors.
First of all, the cop was black. Shooter was white.
The shooter and Tyler are my stepson’s cousins on his mothers side. Thank God he was raised by his Dad and I. His mothers side are all_ Jerry Springer idiot methheads.
Jordan’s brother shot the shooter in the back.
Story and photos at the following link.
The incident started when Jordan, who was working an off-duty security job, removed
three drunken and disruptive customers from inside. Police said Chantell Mixon, 28, put
up a fight in the parking lot while Jordan tried to arrest her. Police said Mixon’s
boyfriend, 30-year-old Michael Dwayne Bowman, pulled out a gun and shot Jordan
at least three times.
These are criminal class whites. Yes, they do exist, and in fact infest the rural areas of the US, particularly the South. I live in a part of Florida that borders a lot of seriously rural areas, and I will say that I had never seen such creeps before moving here. They live on a combination of welfare and crime.
And the (black) cop was the good guy.
This just proves that being in a state where Concealed Carry in legal is much safer and the chance of getting murdered is much lower. It seems it all could have been much worse if the victim’s brother had not shown up with his gun.
You are lucky to be remote from them, and you have my sympathy. I have a friend here who has a branch of the family (including several of her grandchildren) that essentially followed a downward path and are almost all in jail at the moment.
It’s kind of a cultural thing. Your reference to Jerry Springer was right on target, because these people’s values are formed by TV and once they saw creeps becoming the new celebrities, that’s where they wanted to go.
Tyler looks like he is scared out of his mind, but I don't understand how he is getting away with only a Disorderly Conduct charge. I thought I you were with folks who shot a cop, you go down as an accomplice to Capital Murder.
I wish you would move back to where you came from. I live in a rural area of Florida which is close to the Alabama line.
The locals are the finest people on earth. That does not mean there are no cretins but overall the people are so nice that I sometimes am ashamed that I don’t behave as well as most of them do.
I would never excuse capital murder and I think if he did it, your Step Nephew should be executed, but from reading the story, it seems that Chantell Mixon started all this mess. I hope she does hard time.
Possibly Amish though.
We live about 20 miles away. When he graduated high school he decided to go live with his mom and after hanging out for a few months Thank GOD he decided to move back in and go to college . I never asked why but I had a feeling.
FReepmail me or KoRn to get on or off the Waffle House Ping List.
She was charged with murder too.
Chantell will pull out every excuse and sad story in the book while blaming her actions on her boyfriend in order to gain sympathy with the women on her jury.
I bet she also serves as a witness against your Step Nephew which may not be all that bad.
But yes, she started all this crap and an officer is dead.
Livius - Your generalization is terribly off. I grew up in that area between Pensacola and the Alabama state line. I’ve lived now in 14 states in both cities and rural areas. The northeast was the worst from cultural and moral perspectives, followed by any city ghetto area.
There is a Waffle House Ping List!?
I live in Alabama, but I was stationed in Massachusetts for 3 years. I’ve never seen more inbred, criminally minded Godless (which explains most of it) white people in my life as there.
Oh, they got caught? What a wicked pissa!
Is there supposed to be a link in that picture, S&A?
Note to self: Don’t go for waffles at 2 in the morning.

OK... When you said post 8, I thought you meant the thread from yesterday...
I meant this thread. Hope any confusion’s cleared up.
Thanks for the ping, Slings, this story is heartbreaking.
Me too. I wish that FR would ban the word "Amish" (except for when referring to the actual Amish, of course). Using the word in a racial manner is both silly and childish.
How very liberal of you.
This is big news. White on black crime. What is it, a 1000 to 1 ratio?
It is. Stupid and evil is a bad combination.
Amen to that.
Well nail my **** to a tree!
OK about 30 years ago I was going from KC to Orlando. I stopped to spend the night in some small town in Georgia. The only place open was a Waffle House. Never having been to a Waffle House and on company per diem I ordered a steak. I should have stayed at my motel and ate my extra pair of shoes.
And that would be for two reasons. Number one, it turns serious conversations into silly ones. If you are referring to, say, inner city blacks, just go ahead and say inner city blacks. Why be so timid?
And two, the use of "Amish" just bores me personally. It's like an old joke heard for the hundreth time.
Of course, you might feel differently.
It was obviously Quakers.
“Security?” Wordplay and sophistry. You’re taking money from a private citizen to do what you already get paid to do, which is be a cop.
Only problem is your boss isn’t the chief — your boss is the waffle house manager! And you’ve got a gun and powers of arrest. You can’t ethically or morally auction off those powers to the highest bidder. Those powers are entrusted to you by the citizens of your city. They’re not yours to peddle.
Sure, cops taking money from the waffle house — what could possibly go wrong?
I think Felony Murder only applies if there was another crime being committed in which the second perp was participating. If they’d been robbing the place it’s one thing and it’s a different thing if it’s a spontaneous scuffle and someone pulls a gun.
The prosecutors either can’t prove sufficient involvement or that there could be witnesses who can say that he tried to verbally tried to stop his brother.
OK, I’m surprised.
(Maybe I shouldn’t be, though. I knew that there were black Hutterites.)
He should be charged with more. For sure.
