GRIFFIN, Ga. -- A 43-year-old Griffin police officer was shot and killed while off-duty early Saturday morning and the man who police say fired the gun is in critical but stable condition after being shot by the officer's brother.

Officer Kevin Jordan was working an overnight security shift in uniform at a Waffle House restaurant in Griffin when two men and a woman caused a disturbance around 2:30 a.m., Griffin Police Lt. Mike Richardson said. Jordan escorted them to the parking lot, when the woman identified as Chantell Mixon began physically fighting with him.

There is a Waffle House Ping List!?

OK about 30 years ago I was going from KC to Orlando. I stopped to spend the night in some small town in Georgia. The only place open was a Waffle House. Never having been to a Waffle House and on company per diem I ordered a steak. I should have stayed at my motel and ate my extra pair of shoes.

Well then, let me slightly rephrase my previous statement. If I were the owner of FR, I would ban the word "Amish" when used in a racial context.

And that would be for two reasons. Number one, it turns serious conversations into silly ones. If you are referring to, say, inner city blacks, just go ahead and say inner city blacks. Why be so timid?

And two, the use of "Amish" just bores me personally. It's like an old joke heard for the hundreth time.

Of course, you might feel differently.

“Security?” Wordplay and sophistry. You’re taking money from a private citizen to do what you already get paid to do, which is be a cop.

Only problem is your boss isn’t the chief — your boss is the waffle house manager! And you’ve got a gun and powers of arrest. You can’t ethically or morally auction off those powers to the highest bidder. Those powers are entrusted to you by the citizens of your city. They’re not yours to peddle.

Sure, cops taking money from the waffle house — what could possibly go wrong?

I think Felony Murder only applies if there was another crime being committed in which the second perp was participating. If they’d been robbing the place it’s one thing and it’s a different thing if it’s a spontaneous scuffle and someone pulls a gun.

The prosecutors either can’t prove sufficient involvement or that there could be witnesses who can say that he tried to verbally tried to stop his brother.

Because Amish is shorter to type. It has become a meme around FR that will be hard to eradicate. Part of it is that, through irony, it points out the undeniable existence of statistical group differences.

“These are criminal class whites.”

I live in New York State near Albany and we have a lot of “These are criminal class whites.” Some live in the rural areas but most live in the suburban and metropolitan areas where the welfare is handy. They murder their Gimmee Gimmee Welfare Girlfriends’ babies, sexually abuse their daughters and sons.
Condolences to the Cop and his family.

A $25 a day per diem 30 years ago wouldn't have called for an omelet. That being said you are probably right.
