Tea Party Patriots: Thad Cochran Must Debate Chris McDaniel Now

The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund is offering to host a debate between Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) and his primary challenger state Sen. Chris McDaniel now that McDaniel has topped Cochran in Tuesday’s vote count forcing a runoff.

“What the Republican primary voters of Mississippi need is a debate between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel,” TPPCF Chairman Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement.

Martin points to the statement made late Tuesday evening by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) executive director Rob Collins about the Mississippi race, where he called for a “vigorous debate” should there be a runoff, as evidence everybody thinks Cochran needs to debate with McDaniel.

“Should Mississippi go to a runoff, we will expect a vigorous debate about the future of our country over the next three weeks and we will continue to fully support Thad Cochran,” Collins said in a statement. “We look forward to him emerging victorious in the runoff.”

Martin thanked Collins for calling for a debate—one that Cochran’s been avoiding until now. “Luckily for them, last night’s statement by NRSC Executive Director Rob Collins – in which he declared that he and his colleagues were looking forward to a ‘vigorous debate about the future of our country’ – makes clear that Establishment Republicans, too, believe a one-on-one debate is a good idea,” Martin said. “Consequently, TPPCF is hereby offering to host a debate between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel.”

Martin said that the election results Tuesday night are an indication Mississippi is tired of Cochran, and wants bold new conservative leadership from McDaniel.

Unfortunately it seems his senility has got to him. He’s indicated he will continue to run. Have it your way, Thad. Prepare for a defeat

Is he even capable of debating?

“Is he even capable of debating?”

Hell, he’s not even familiar with the Tea Party. He probably doesn’t even know he lost.

I doubt he will debate. It just will not happen.

He didn’t even come out and address his supporters last night. “They” sent out Gregg Harper instead.

If not, I hope McDaniel makes THAT the campaign issue.

Tell the people of Mississippi that Cochran not debating is not about McDaniel, it's about a fundamental disregard for the people of Mississippi, the people Cochran is supposed to represent.

If done right, it could be the best jiu-jitsu move McDaniel could make. Get the people to move away from Cochran by making the debate about Cochran's contempt for his own constituents.

“On his way to the exit, Cochran held out his hand to me. I had met and interviewed him less than half an hour before. “Hello, how are you doing?” he said with a kindly smile. “I’m Thad Cochran.””

"I think my service in the House of Representatives and Senate have shown the kind of senator I'll continue to be, trying to work to help create opportunities for new and better-paying jobs for more and more Americans," Cochran, a slight, soft-spoken 76-year-old whose white hair flops across his forehead, told me.

"To do this, we've got to have good working relationships with the international community, trying to contribute through our politics to peace and security. Prosperity exists because we do have peace and security."

"As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again."

The old fart has been put into a corner by his own people. He either debates and gets his ass kicked or he ducks it and spends three weeks watching commercials asking why he wont debate.

Remember Gabby Giffords stayed in office with half her brains missing, and she could not show up for work. But the Dems kept her seat warm for an election cycle.

Here the GOPe shows they will keep a slobbering demented old fart in office doing nothing for his state but voting way McConnell tells him too, like a robot.

The people deserve someone who is up to the job.

As it is we have a President who always says he didn’t know, wasn’t aware, just found out, had nothing to do with it.

I wish since Obama doesn’t know half the time what is happening on his watch that we could doc half his salary as compensation for being incompetent and detached.

Ah. Makes sense. I kept trying to place it.

I haven’t really watched movies in about 20 years.

You must have missed this later news clip:

I predict that he will come down with a mysterious infectious disease, he may fall and bump his head, or he may be called away on urgent business to arrange an international Law of the Sea Conference on St. Helena island. The details aren’t important, but his campaign won’t let him debate.
