Post-Election and Primary Runoff Information

Delbert Hosemann
Secretary of State

Process for Certifying Election Results in a Party Primary:

All primary elections in the State of Mississippi are run by the respective state parties. State law requires the transmittal of certified election results to the State Party Executive Committees of the Democratic and Republican Parties.  The State Party Executive Committees compile the certified results from each county and certify their election results.  The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office does not certify the results of a Primary Election.  The certification is performed by the State Party Executive Committees.  The State Executive Committees have ten (10) days from the date of the election (June 13, 2014) to submit certified results to the Secretary of State’s Office.  The Secretary of State’s Office accepts the certified results by the State Executive Committees on behalf of the State of Mississippi.  (Miss. Code Ann §23-15-599)

Onward to victory. My prediction is Cochran refuses to debate as media calls grow louder. He loses credibility, and then loses the runoff by 8 points.

Wow! It sure is a good thing Santorum showed up to give McDaniels that little extra oomph over Cochran!

Not is, has.

He has done without them, as in he hasn’t needed them thus far.

Looks like Boss Hogg(Haley Barbour) and his clan could not gin up
enough votes in Hinds County to overtake McDaniel. Even a 3 hour delay
in reporting the final 25% of Hinds County, which gave them plenty of time
to gin up votes, wasn’t enough.

We will soon find out by the type of ads Boss Hogg runs against McDaniel
in the runoff if the GOP really wants a majority in the senate or has been
lying all along.

Well the GOP should at least be happy there is a tea party republican in the senate instead of a democrat.

The RSC is all in.

If McConnell is lagging in Kentucky, the powers may way to husband funds for McConnell. However, with Obama's coal regulations, Grimes has been sacrificed on the alter of Obama.

I agree with your script but I'll double your margin to 16 pts. Cochran's lost the national GOPe. His base will lose heart and enthusiasm is all on McDaniels' side. This is the dynamic we've seen repeatedly in TX runoffs and it has resulted in blowouts more often than not [of course, Cochran is no Dewhurst - to his credit].

Have you heard any calls for a debate?

I’m wondering if McConnell will use the coal attacks to beat Grimes. It certainly ends any hope for Natalie Tennant in West Virginia.

Give it time. Cochran has no legitimate excuse to refuse to debate a man who bested him in the first round

Phooey.

Cochran ran in the primary as the GOPe guy. McDaniel ran as the Tea Party fave, without GOPe support.

Some pundit said GOPe would be pulling support from Cochran from here, presumably as they were not hopeful as McDaniel forced the runoff.

McDaniel has done fine without GOPe support so far
