An Associated Press analysis of federal temperature records shows Carson City has warmed the most than any other city in the nation in the last 30 years.
The average temperature in Carson City has risen 4.1 degrees since 1984. Boise, Idaho, came in second, posting a rise of 4 degrees. Las Vegas, known for its sweltering summers, was sixth, with an increase of 3.4 degrees.
But it's the boost in summertime heat that really makes Carson City stand out.

These stats are totally contrived. What has happened with satellite measurements since 57? Hummm?
I travel to Carson City often, it snows there a lot too and is cold in the Winter.
In 1984, about 35,000 people lived here, government data say, and today the population is 55,000. Instead of fields and meadows, there are houses and commercial complexes.
Which is also part of the reason some areas of the country now suffer bad flooding
Anybody from the AP or I da ho statesman bother to check where the thermometers that registered the temperature rise were placed?
It’s frequently enlightening to see the temperature measuring stations in various locals. It is not at all unusual to see “heat sinks” (e.g., paved parking lots & roads, buildings and even air conditioning exterior units) being built very near by over the years.
But the “alarmists” always look around to try to find some alarming “finding” to scare gullible folks. That’s becoming less and less effective as time goes on and “the world doesn’t end” with the alarmists’ predictions failing to materialize.
Cold weather is merely weather.
How many cubic feet of concrete has been poured in that time? Heat Island effect?

Just thought I’d throw this in because it has no real meaning to the subject except to try to divert attention from it like Hillary did to the Benghazi Four.
I’d say tons of it. There have been building new malls and parking lots all over Carson City for the past 20 years. Still a lot of open space around, Lake Tahoe nearby, but lots of new malls.

It was probably pretty cool. There was a lot of glaciation in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Once someone with common sense checks these out they will find the “official temperature reading devices (aka thermometers)” located in positions next to air conditioning exhausts, asphalt parking lots, barbecue pits, etc. You can’t have global warming if you don’t “scientifically” position your measuring devices .... ask the expert three amigos: Hansen, Mann and Jones.
I live 35 miles EAST of Carson City. The growth in that area in the past 30 years has been quite strong. The entire Carson Valley, including Gardnerville, Minden & Fish Springs & Genoa have also grown quite a bit.
Paving streets—driveways & putting up houses with darker roofs will hold the heat here in the high desert, and Carson is up against the east side of the Sierra Nevada range of mountains, which traps more heat.
Look at the census figures for 30 years ago & today for Carson City & Carson Valley.
The prevailing wind is from the SW or W & it comes down off the steep peaks- Job’s Peak & the Sisters, but doesn’t scour out the heat very well. Sort of sails over Carson.
It is also hot where I am—further out into the rural area—, but everything here is sand & sagebrush & rabbit brush. Hot during the day & cools off at night.
A 40 degree swing daily isn’t unusual at all.
We have lots of open space here in the high desert 35 miles east of Carson City, but limited water is the problem here. We are used to the heat & VERY low humidity. 14% is normal. 4% isn’t uncommon.
"Warmed the most than . . ."? Maybe AP should stick to analyzing their grammar and leave the math and climatology to others. I wonder if the AP temperature analysts are capable of explaining what they mean by average temperature and how to measure its change. I kind of doubt it.

I want to see a picture of WHERE the temperature is measured to collect this data. How much black asphalt has been added close to the data collection point; etc.
