Cantor: Amnesty For DREAMers Is 'Biblical'
breitbart.com ^ | 6/4/14 | Caroline May

Posted on 06/04/2014 7:41:53 PM PDT by cotton1706

Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a new explanation for why he supports granting amnesty to individuals brought into the country illegally as minors, often called “DREAMers” in reference to the “DREAM Act.”

It's “Biblical,” he said in a local radio interview.

“I’ve always said that there’s a Biblical root and a tradition in this country that says we don’t hold children liable for their parents’ acts and when you have kids who may have been brought here let’s say at 2 months old unbeknownst to them and they’ve been here all their lives and they want to serve in our military, my position has been I agree with that principle,” he said. “They should be allowed to serve in our military and be allowed to become part of this country as a citizen, but not their parents. Not the ones who committed the illegal act. So this is the difficulty,” Cantor said this week on The John Fredericks Show.

Cantor went on say that Obama’s intransigence is the reason there has not yet been immigration reform.

“The president has said he doesn’t want to pursue this type of a first step approach he doesn't want to pursue a path that would say let’s do the things we can agree on and insist instead on a blanket amnesty bill,” the Virginia Republican said. “And I’m opposed to that and as long as the president says my way or the highway all or nothing, we can’t get anything done.”

Cantor also spoke about his opposition to the Senate “Gang of Eight” bill.

“I’ve always opposed Harry Reid and Barack Obama’s amnesty bill coming out of the Senate,” he said.

Eric Cantor, your biblical knowledge is laughable.

Romans 13:1-7
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.

Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.

For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;

for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.

Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Its RACIST to impose SLAVE wages on LEGAL immigrants and other minorities, by flooding the market with cheap labor.

This is a very powerful political argument that I bet that if it was phrased that way in polls: 90% agree /10% disagree.

Issues like this will have little effect on this years election but when the next GOP candidate goes up against Hillary (or whoever) in 2016 and she calls for amnesty, its going to get real ugly.

In LA they are remodeling hotels to cater to Chinese girls 8 months pregnant who drop thousands of “citizens” a year.

Canter is part of the problem, not the solution.

So lets see if the Bible says anything about the concept that illegal aliens shouldnt be the people who decide who will be a US citizen.

Because thats who made the decision: their parents, who decide that their offspring will be part of our nation whether we like it or not.

I have heard when they say, "We don't arrest the children when the parents rob a bank!"

And that is true, but, I always want to ask, "Do we allow the kids to keep the bank notes?"

And the answer is always, NO!

These parents are specifically breaking the law, so that they can get their kids here! If you don't believe that, then see where there has been a HUGE influx of new illegal children being dropped off and picked up at the borders! They know that several Congressional DUMBASSES are pushing for passage of the Dream Act! So they are trying to get their kids here ASAP!!!

Well, that particular verse was superseded.

That being said, I doubt Cantor is doing this for Biblical purposes.

My guess is they all get their pockets lined one way or another by illegal and/or very cheap labor.

Call me a skeptic.

John 10:1

“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter...by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.

This verse combined with the Romans 13 passage, that Bryan24 has already mentioned, makes it very clear that Cantor is wrong.

Thank you for posting that. As I read through the thread I was waiting for someone to point out that Cantor certainly has not read his Bible. The whole theological underpinning of Christian salvation has to do with Original Sin. Judaism speaks for itself the numbers 14:18 as you quoted.

It is vexing to witness public officials of high rank misquoting Scripture or certainly mischaracterizing it. Whatever one thinks of the immorality of visiting punishment for the sins of the fathers onto the sons, mischaracterizing the Bible does not inspire confidence in the perspicacity of people like Cantor. If he wants to make a secular argument he should do so but he should not resort to mangling the Bible and two of the world's great religions to do so.

The children are ONLY here because we refuse to deport their parents, and their children with them, or to deport the children back to where their parents have already returned. Yes, families SHOULD BE UNITED - that’s “biblical” - where the parents have legal residence.

While I say Yes - Ezekiel 18 is about not using that verse against or in Israel - i.e. God’s children are his both the father and son - and so the same for us under the new covenant but does that negate the Numbers verse in toto. I think it only supersedes it for those who are God’s children - I could be wrong - it has happened before -too many times LOL!!!

Eric Cantor is Jewish, so quoting the New Testament to him to make a biblical argument is as useful as quoting the Book of Mormon to a Catholic to try and sway them to your POV.
