A tea party officer and two others representing the challenger in a Senate primary became trapped in a courthouse in the middle of the night, hours after officials had gone home from counting votes, authorities said.
Janis Lane, Scott Brewster and Rob Chambers were locked inside the Hinds County Courthouse more than an hour after entering shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday through an unlocked door, said Othor Cain, spokesman for the sheriffs department, which is investigating.
Noel Fritsch, spokesman for candidate Chris McDaniel, said the three went to check on why some precincts hadnt been counted. Once inside, the door locked behind them and they had to call for help to get out. Other elections officials had locked up equipment and ballots and gone home around 11:30 p.m.
Lane is president of the Central Mississippi Tea Party and is a longtime supporter of McDaniel, who is trying to unseat six-term Republican Sen. Thad Cochran.

I love my libertarian fiends, but a lot of them just aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.
This is really “fishy.”
How did they know the door was unlocked?
Why did the officials leave certain boxes uncounted and unprotected?
If the door was unlocked then how did it lock when they went back to get out?
Something just ain’t right here.

Nice tidbit here:
Election commissioner might be Thad’s sister in law

I was heartbroken and very thankful that Rose was not aware of what was going on, Connie Cochran, who is married to the senators brother, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday.

County Clerk Barbara Dunn wants to reassure everyone that no one got into her office where the ballot vault is housed. “I have an alarm system that is set every night. they could not have been locked up in my office with the security I do have.”, she explained.
“Why did the officials leave certain boxes uncounted and unprotected?”
Where did you find this info?
(Smacks head against forehead) WTH??? Tea Party people went into a building at 2 am, to check on ballots???? What a bunch of imbeciles! Yesterday evening, with the GOPe slowly backing away from Cochran and saying they weren’t going to fund a nasty campaign in the time before the run-off June 24, and the fact that Cochran hadn’t even spoken to his reporters made me think he was likely to bow out and just let McDaniel have the slot. Now these guys jeopardize that to go into a building in the middle of the night and, whether their motives were pure as the driven snow, they sound like they were up to no good. I am just disgusted. I hope I am reading this article incorrectly.
Better wait for more info. The fact that Cochran’s relative is in a position of counting and verifying votes isn’t very ethical, either, in my opinion. Makes one wonder what she is trying to do and why the votes had not been counted yet. Trying to manipulate the final count? THAT is very fishy! No wonder McDaniel people might be trying to get in and see what she was up to. Who is reporting on this, anyway?
Something smells to high heaven with this story.I aint buying it.
That absolutely sounds fishy, I am not denying that.
However, if this turns into a story, the only relevant details will be tea partiers breaking in to where ballots are stored. McDaniel has enough pull with people like Beck that he could get all the talk radio people to make a stink about the Cochran relative and ballot counting, but taking matters into their own hands (and what were they going to do, that they could then tell the public about???) is foolish. I can imagine this story can possibly blow up and the MSM will be thrilled to have something to report on besides Bergdahl.
Duh!
1.The door to the building was unlocked and it was very apparent that no one other than those who walked though those open doors were in the building.
2. Certain ballot boxes had not been counted.....you have to wonder what precinct (conservative or liberal) they were from. I guess everyone has their idea of what that answer is.
3. You have to parse the words the lady said about the alarm system. She never did say it was on that night....only that she had an alarm system and it was turned on every night...not that it was on that particular night.
4. I particularly find the part strange that they called the “big honcho” Republican to tell him they were locked in (being tea party voters) and he made some excuse that he did not have a key and then turned them in.
I think there a whole lot more to this story than what is being published.
Read up on the Hattiesburg mayoral race to see what happens to ungarded, unlockec ballot boxes in courthouses in MS in the middle of the night.
Why couldn’t they count these particular 4 boxes that night?
It should be illegal to have uncounted ballot boxes out of the purview of any representatives of the candidates. Especially in light of what they did in Hattiesburg. BTW, the fraudster in that case won and is now mayor.
duu duh

parse that for me
The door was propped open because it was self locking when closed, it closed or was closed behind them.
Locked in? Isn’t that a fire code violation?
OH SH**! Here we go again. Some more Tea Party idiots doing stupid, freakin’ crap.

Were these people who were official ballot counters? If so, why were they caught in an empty building at 2 am? Come on, this sounds bad. We’d be insane over it if it was the ballots in the race between the eventual R nominee and the D, and people from the D camp were caught in a building at 2 am.
They drove up from hattiesburg, supposedly, when they heard that there were ‘issues’ with the ballot counting. For some reason 4 boxes of ballots in Hinds county (where the election commissioner is Thad’s sister in law) needed to be counted the next day.
The BIGGEST question is this: Why was a side door to the courthouse left OPEN and ostensibly unguarded with uncounted ballots anywhere inside the building?
