First Lady could be positioning herself for a run at Mark Kirk's seat in 2016 By Ward Room Staff
FLOTUS for Senate?
It wasn't that long ago that such a slogan would seem absurd, but political wags are beginning to wonder whether Michelle Obama is mulling a run for Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk's seat in 2016. A Thursday column in Reuters suggests that Obama would be the only candidate with a large enough profile to unseat the Republican.
The column also points to Obama's recent willingness to debate the merits of her school lunch program with Republicans, a trip to China, fundraising and her stance on the kidnapped Nigerian school girls as other signs that her tone is turning more political.

It's not the first time Obama has been mentioned as a potential senatorial candidate, but that speculation has always focused beyond 2016. And the First Lady herself has never publicly indicated any interest in seeking political office.
But just like a senator named Barack Obama who decided to run for president in 2008 when many thought he should wait his turn, politics are often about timing.
She would quickly become the most recognizable face in the Senate. Her fame and fundraising ability would command deference in a body that normally operates on seniority. Whether the recent elevation of her profile suggests a plan to run is unclear, but she will be well positioned should she jump in. -- Reuters
There's also that 2012 Public Polling Policy survey showing the first lady picking up 51 percent of the vote against Kirk's 40 percent if they were to run. Your move, FLOTUS.
Not going to happen.
If she wants it, it’s a done deal. I don’t know if she wants it.
Indonesia has a senate?
Because she and her beard are a carbon copy of Bill and his beard: all four are power-hungry sociopaths/psychopaths. And the puppeteers like dynasties in American Politics.
Has she ever been to Indonesia?
Didn’t stop Hillary.
Senator FLOTUS? I’d say what I think about that but I’d likely be told to shut up and eat my carrots.
She’s too lazy. Besides, her husband is going rogue and doesn’t care if he hurts Democrats along the way.
Who would be worse? Snake-oil Kirk or Moochelle? The Democrap party is a pathetic blot on this nation and has been for a good 150 years. Now they’re going to try and send a truly America-hating first lady (”all this for a damn flag”) to the senate. She’d be an even less coherent Sheila Jackson Lee!
And just what’s her qualification? That she’s black?
about as qualified as her husband, the prez
Pheeew, it’s Illinois. I opened his fearing Moochele would seek to be the next carpet bagger senator in New Yorker following on Hillary Clinton’s example.
I feel better, not much though.
Say what? Michelle, her live in Mother (who commands a six figure salary for the job of living in the White House at taxpayer expense) and Valerie Jarrett (who does not need a salary because of all the pay for play and ObamaCare web site kick back money she gets) are the troika running the country while BO plays hearts with Reggie Love and watches the NBA and Final Four playoffs.
Michelle may not be interested in running an efficient government, but she sure loves telling other people what to do.
It would be very hard for her to get elected to the Senate
Lazy?! Senator is the laziest job on earth.
Given that Kirk threw Oberweis under the bus to work with his “colleague across the aisle” dickead durbin” I think it is payback with interest when Durbin reciprocates with dispatching Kirk a la Fredo in Godfather II
FLOTUS for Senate?
FLOTUS ... FLATUS ... it’s all the same to me.
I’ll take Kirk and he’s exactly as advertised - 100% RINO.
But to be fair to Kirk, I probably wouldn’t want to campaign with icecream Oberweis either. Truax was 50 times better, but the state party got their man, a proven loser and Rovian.
The excuse though, “i value my relationship with the biggest dichead in the senate” was almost satirical. What Republican would say this? Kirk, that’s who.
