I know Gen. Patton was buried in the Third Army Cemetery in Luxembourg originally. But I thought I read somewhere that he was eventually reinterred in the United States. Anyone know anything about that?
General Patton is buried in Luxembourg. They moved his grave to a different location because of the heavy traffic. Mrs. Patton’s ashes were scattered over his grave by family members.
No, he is still buried at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial located in Hamm, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

This PBS documentary highlights the 24 foreign cemeteries and memorials honoring the sacrifices of the U.S. military on behalf of other nations. After WWII and beginning with the Korean War, the U.S. policy for its war dead changed to where all are brought home to the U.S. In it the narrator said that Patton was originally buried amongst his men, but the locals wore a path in the cemetery to his grave, so his remains were exhumed and re-interred in a site in the same cemetery but apart from his men.
There’s a cenotaph at a cemetery in San Gabriel, CA, but according to findagrave.com, he’s buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery.
