HARRISBURG, Pa. — Democratic upstart Tom Wolf leads Republican incumbent Tom Corbett by a formidable 20 points as Pennsylvania's gubernatorial campaign shifts into gear for the general election, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The survey of 1,308 Pennsylvania voters by Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University showed Wolf backed by 53 percent and Corbett by 33 percent.

The Republicans are in no danger of losing either the house or senate. Wolf will not be able to get his tax and spend agenda into law.

He took the political bait to increase taxes and not defending marriage. Now, it is what it is. GOP-e can spin it anyway they want after the election.

That’s another strike against him for many voters.

I’m not arguing religion or sex in opposing gay marriage, I see it as the incremental establishment of a totalitarian state that will persecute those who don’t conform to its views on sexuality and violate their Constitutional rights.

Way to go, Governor Corbett.

I have five reasons to not vote for him, at least.

First, white-flag on voter I.D. case, then bending over for the marriage redefinition ruling.

Why is anyone surprised?

If I were a Pennsylvanian, I would hold my nose and vote for the Republican.

The GOPe machine of PA that gave us Specter and his acolyte who now recants his past named Santorum is the ultimate worst.

They have consistently opposed conservatives from the days of William Howard Taft when PA’s GOP turned into Teddy Roosevelt Progressives in 1912 giving the 38 electoral votes to him while the other Progressive Wilson won.

They opposed Bob Taft, Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

The volume of write-in votes was pretty high in the primary. He won’t win.

Pretty much doubled the state gasoline tax. Fell for the old “we need to repair our roads” dodge. The roads after last winter are as bad as I’ve ever seen them. It’s June and some potholes haven’t seen any repair attempts yet. Most of the money is getting shoveled to mass transit for Philly & Pittsburgh.

I would have expected this from a Democrat like Rendell, but a Republican? Inexcusable!

It seems that new taxes promised for roads always go to “mass transportation” projects that benefit a tiny minority and do nothing to make the roads better.

So what is the answer for PA?

The same result as New Jersey?

Yep, he just passed a .28 cent per gallon gas tax hike, and just last week, he refused to appeal a federal court’s ruling that PA’s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. No one is happy with him, and so he’s going down because of self-inflicted wounds.

and there will still be those who say we should vote for people like him as the lesser of evils

Rick Scott has done well in Florida.

I hope so. That dang Christ is well known and changed to Democrat from a Republican which could muddy up the election especially for the ignorant voter.

His campaign manager keeps saying that with time his standing will improve and Corbett will win decisively. Ahahahaha. Knowing the mood of many conservatives in my state, I can tell you that it won’t happen! 2010 was such a wasted opportunity.

Conservatives are being intimidated, attacked and or ignored by the Republican Establishment in this state.

One big victory for us was the election of State Senator Scott Wagner in York County where I live. Wagner won a three way race as a write-in against the D and R endorsed candidates with 48 percent of the vote.

But it took Wagner 400-thousand dollars at least, most of it his own money, to beat the machine’s smear campaign against him.

The GOPe uses false emotional wedges talking about eliminating paycheck deductions for unionized government employees as if its a major burden to taxpayers.

Having government projects like all the roads and bridges being paid for with Corbett’s higher gas taxes done by union wage labor needs to stop. That will save billions down the road.

They also want to reduce the size of our legislature, but not the perks of the legislators currently in. A smaller legislature means the leaders cut out the districts of conservatives who challenge the leadership.

Its a dirty Liberal Republican Establishment political machine in this state with a long heritage of being on the wrong side.

What does this state have to show for it.

PA used to have 36 congressional districts a hundred years ago, now we have 18.
