Chomsky: Obama ‘Determined To Demolish The Foundations Of Our Civil Liberties’
Daily Caller ^ | June 4, 2014 | Scott Greer

Posted on 06/06/2014 11:53:31 PM PDT by grundle

Progressive hero Noam Chomsky is terrified of the surveillance state that has developed during the tenure of President Barack Obama, calling it a grave threat to our fundamental civil liberties.

In a column published Monday, Chomsky writes that the documents revealed to the public by Edward Snowden show a system that is flagrantly violating the principles of the Constitution.

“It is of no slight import that the project is being executed in one of the freest countries in the world, and in radical violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Bill of Rights, which protects citizens from ‘unreasonable searches and seizures,’ and guarantees the privacy of their persons, houses, papers and effects,” Chomsky said.

“Much as government lawyers may try, there is no way to reconcile these principles with the assault on the population revealed in the Snowden documents.”

What’s he complaining about?

He’s got the President he’s always wanted.

All this adds up to a system that George Orwell would’ve been incapable of envisioning as “Nothing so ambitious was imagined by the dystopian prophets of grim totalitarian worlds ahead.

Actually George Orwell did envision it all and its totality. Orwell did not know computer mining of data. Orwell did know the totalitarian state.

I’m thinking that the left is starting to position itself as if it was they that warned America about Obama and the right got him into office somehow.

There are progressives and there are Progressives it seems. Chomsky has made a good living saying Socialist and even sometimes libertarian things. I think he likes to think of himself as a Free Thinker. Like Orwell he is able to understand Communist like tyrannical behavior when he sees it and extrapolate it to it’s ultimate end. Like Orwell too he is unable to see that his own thinking, no matter how well intentioned, ultimately leads to this sort of behavior as there are a good proportion of the population who want to be free - who don’t want to kiss the ring on the hand of their masters no matter how benevolent. These people are a major inconvenience to the State and must be watched and silenced.

Yes, and it almost killed him. He fought with the Anarchists in the Spanish Civil War, and they were purged by their “allies”, the Communists. He barely made it out of Spain alive, and ultimately not due to the Nationalists under Franco.

Homage to Catalonia tells of his time in the Spanish Civil War and is a good, quick read, well worth it. His experience there was very informative to his later anti-Totalitarian fiction.

These over-educated, leftist double-domes that infest eastern seaboard academia are supposed to be so mentally superior to all of us peasants.

Yet, how come after lifetimes of being commie infiltrators in our institutes of higher socialistic learning they have never discovered that the natural progression of their alien ideologies is to fascism, repression, suppression, and yes, to spying, wuretapping, surveillance, bugging, watching, informing and shadowing.

In short, a police state.

How stupidly blind can they be!!!

There's nothing like educated fools...and our education system is chock full of them. They care little what WE think, they know we're not about to change our thinking at our ages. The commies ALWAYS go after the malleable minds of the youth...and Chomsky, a long-time left-wing radical activist, has been in hot pursuit of young minds after years at MIT and other educational institutions.

What is he? A brilliant professor of linguistics.....or an ideological fool, a Pied Piper and a subversive?

Leni

He thought he could get the uber state and keep the 4th Amendment?

I'm sure he still thinks the philosophy is sound, it's just that it turns out the right people aren't in charge this time around (again).

It's just coincidence that every attempt at socialism ends up in a brutal, repressive police state doncha know...

What would be really nice would be if people like the Koch brothers would start funding progressive candidates who would attack and undermine the Democrats from the Left, like Nader did to Gore. These days the “libertarian” candidates are inevitably the ones attacking and undermining the Republicans/Conservatives.

That just makes too much sense. Heh. The ‘risk of discovery’ would elicit unending howels/stories from the corru+pt, criminal DBM libtards, unlike when (leftist icon) Nader was exposed, which they effectively buried on page D17. Plus, I don’t think so many LIVs would even know what to make of it. And we are now truly, sadly a Nation of LIVs.

Hey, Chomsky!

Why don’t you go back to telling everyone that Pol Pot is the greatest thing since sliced bread and all the bad news coming out about the killing fields in Cambodia is all evil American propaganda!?

Or, maybe you can do another tour in Pakistan, speaking on the radio, giving interviews to newsies and giving lectures to standing room only audiences about how our invasion of Afghanistan is really just an evil plan to slaughter 1 million Afghans through starvation!?

Dang it. Now I’m conflicted. If Chomsky’s against it, I kinda, sorta feel like I should be for it.

***Noam Chomsky is terrified...***

Good grief! I didn't even know he was still around. I quote him on one of my web pages [re: Babel (?)] saying - I think back in the 50's - that we need to find the common roots of grammar in search of a common language. We might as well be searching for the Flying Dutchman ship or the philosopher's stone.

How do we tell these folks that their heads are so far in the clouds that they are suffering from hypoxia?

I think it was Sol Alinsky - or maybe Bill Ayers - that said that in order for communism to work in America it would be necessary to kill at least 20 million Americans. Would they mind if we started with them?

But they are like that environmentalist - ? Einhorn - who killed his girl friend and stuffed her in a closet for a few years... then fled to France where it is expected that you will kill your girl friend if you are a good and reliable Leftist.

NUTS!
