And fourth the U.S. Policy and Response to Terrorists which says that the US “will make no concessions to terrorists. It will not pay ransoms, release prisoners, change its policies or agree to other acts that might encourage additional terrorism.”

Barry wanted to do it—period—even though everyone: the military, Congress, his own advisors, if we had a fly on the wall—was saying,
“No sir, don’t do that. Bad idea, bad policy, bad politics and most importantly, plainly, clearly illegal. Remember that act you signed less than a year ago?”
So now he’s saying, “time was of the essence.”
No one is buying the initial nonsense churned out by his stooges, particularly stooge Susan, that Bergdahl was a hero/seriously ill/in mortal danger, etc.

Bergdahl’s health is fine and he wasn’t going anywhere, having been there safely for five years amusing his captors with fan dances and such, apparently happy to remain.
