Employees of Roman Catholic schools in Columbus are being required to sign updated contracts that include specific examples of immoral conduct that are prohibited.

Examples of behavior that could get the workers fired include having sex without being married, having an abortion or publicly supporting abortion rights, and entering into a marriage not recognized by the Catholic Church.

The changes also specify that workers must abide by Catholic Church teachings "both within and outside their employment duties" and regardless of their religious affiliation, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The Diocese of Columbus joined its counterparts in Cincinnati and Cleveland in amending school policies to detail the examples of prohibited behavior. Teachers and other employees are now receiving the updated contracts.

must?

I should think they'd want to sign it. It is, after all, a Catholic school.

Catholic school teachers being required to follow Catholic doctrine.

Isn't that racist/homophobic?

The Catholic Church seems to be accepting that the battle to save marriage in the courts has been lost. The Church is digging in to save its religious liberty to conduct its institutions according to its faith.

The fight over teacher morality contracts, HHS birth control mandates is just the beginning. I wouldn’t be surprised if the IRS starts to grant Tax Exempt Status based on how much diversity the church promotes.

The media wants us to think that these contracts are illegal or unethical.

The media are all in favor of sex outside marriage, any number of partners, any gender of partners. They are in favor of unmarried mothers having babies. They are in favor of homosexual marriage. Against this backdrop, anything which inhibits people’s “rights” to do any of these things is improper to the liberals and their voices in the media.

Archdioesces in HI, Oakland, Cincy, and now Columbus are requiring teacher contracts. The Church is trying to cover its legal behind. Of course, the media and the gay gestapo are don’t going to let the Church easily. The Gay Pride Parade in Cincy is going to be a protest against the teacher contracts.

Do you think that the ACLU will stick its big, fat, ugly, stupid nose into this?

Opponents of the Catholic teacher contracts in Ohio are putting up bill boards saying, “ Would Pope Francis sign the contract”.

Sadly, most Catholics relate more with Nancy Pelosi than Rick Santorum.

I a lot of these updated agreements are based on advice from Church lawyers to protect the School’s status as a religious institution.

Ohs, noes! How bigoted of them to require that church standards be upheld by employees of a church school! Next thing, they’ll expect priests to adhere to Vatican teachings!

We see how well upholding secular standards (i.e. no standards) works in secular schools.

The next steps are usually stripping the church of assets and declaring its priests a dangerous foreign influence and expelling/attacking them for treason.

Damn, wish my law license was still active! This one’ll end up in court for sure! The perfect train wreck.
