Two more instances of Smart car "tipping" occurred overnight in San Francisco's Twin Peaks and Cole Valley neighborhoods, according to police.
The latest "tippings" of the small two-seat cars were reported at 3:41 a.m. at Clayton Street and Parnassus Avenue and at 5:38 a.m. in the 1300 block of Clayton Street, near 17th Street, according to police.
These incident follow a series of tippings reported about two months ago.
Three Smart cars were tipped early one morning in April within a 10-block radius near Bernal Heights.
The prank is considered felony vandalism, according to police.

They buy it because it makes them look and feel like they care due to it’s unique design, just like the Prius. In realty, you can get cheaper cars with equivelent or better mileage, but that dosen’t matter to them.
There are REAL cars that get better mpg and are SAFE to drive. i.e. VW TDI Jetta
Why bother with these stupid golf carts?
Cow tipping is much more difficult.
The cow may get up & charge, or Farmer John is right there with his shotgun from all the bellowing & mooing.
If I’m going to drive a car that small, I want to be able to carry it around, like The Jetsons’ car.
The mileage they get for their size is appalling though I have seen them parked in some very tight spots - sometimes perpendicular to the curb in places where other cars are parallel.
Life Lesson: Don’t buy a car from Toys ‘R Us.
Me too but still funny.Every time I see one of these POS cars on the road I look at the driver and say to me.Wack Job Lib
I saw one the other day in my workplace parking lot and it had a USGA window decal on the back. Instantly I thought: where does this person put their clubs?
Did any of these have Obama/Biden bumper stickers on them?
These racist, anti-Obama gays are ruining San Francisco...
lol
//sarcasm
Maybe it was just the awesome power and a wheelstand that got out of control?
When you come right down to it, they’re very well engineered and designed for city-dwellers.
Therein lies the problem. City-dwellers are the problem.
Minneapolis is littered with those things to. People leave them everywhere. 15 minute parking zones, commercial only, unpaid parking meters...
I think they have some agreement with the city to allow for that, but man it sucks when the same POS sits in a 15 minute zone for days.
If the tippers are ILLEGALS, they’ll just get a free meal and a notice to return for a court date (LOL).
A BMW that lights the occupants’ farts?
high school football team did this with the principals Geo Metro when I was a kid...
Then that winter they did it again but placed it on a snow bank.
south africa has the right idea here, i wish my vehicle had this.
“There are REAL cars that get better mpg and are SAFE to drive. i.e. VW TDI Jetta. Why bother with these stupid golf carts?”
A TDI Jetta with automatic, AC, cruise, and a Radio is $26,000 + tax.
The wife’s 2014 Smart cost less than $15,000 out the door with all of the above, plus Mercedes service, roadside, and support. She gets 36-43 MPG in the city (w/wo the AC on). Winter formulation ethanol fuel kills the power, but I found a place with “Agricultural Gasoline” (100% go-juice) that solves that problem.
All told, the cost of ownership, including fuel, Ins, Depreciation, plates, etc., makes it insanely cheap to drive.
It makes a great second, or in our case, third car. It would suck as your only ride, though.
