U.S. Official: Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Has Declined to Speak to His Family
WSJ ^ | June 8, 2014 | By JULIAN E. BARNES

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has declined to speak to his family after five years in harsh captivity that included being held in a cage after one attempted escape, according to a U.S. official familiar with the Army soldier's recovery.

Doctors treating Sgt. Bergdahl at a U.S. military hospital in Germany are moving slowly because of the swirling controversy over the soldier's release, the U.S. official said.

While he spent five years in captivity after being captured by Afghan insurgents in 2009, Sgt. Bergdahl doesn't yet want to talk to his family on the phone, the official said. Details of Sgt. Bergdahl's captivity were earlier reported over the weekend by the New York Times. NYT -0.13%

Sgt. Bergdahl has likely been shielded from most of the backlash his release has generated in the U.S. Some former platoon soldiers have accused him of deserting his post, and lawmakers from both parties have questioned the decision to trade America's lone prisoner of war in Afghanistan for five Taliban officials held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

I can tell you that any man who even spent
even ten days in that platoon knows every damn man in that platoon. You know who
ever fell asleep on alert/guard duty, who makes too much noise on patrol plus who shoots when fired at and who hits the ground and/ or hides. You can bet your fanny his fellow ground pounder pals know this sad ass like a book.

Didn’t he talk to his father over the last couple years even though he was supposedly in captivity? Why not now?

Why didn’t Obama fly them to Germany instead of the Rose Garden fiasco. Ohhh....that would be common sense....

Somehow I think the aspiring ballet dancer left his husband behind.

Another drama queen in the news. He and his parents will probably get their own reality show, but Oprah will want to have the first interview. They could get rich using their 15 minutes of fame, while our wounded soldiers are homeless and military families are using food stamps. .

Because all their conversations would be taped. Let’s not have any conflicting statements.

Of course not. He probably feels mislead (boy do we know that feeling) by both his family and nobama, as they coaxed him away from his buddies with promises of grand parades and adulation. Now there is a distinct possibility he may “actually” be in prison for a very long time and everyone knows he’s a mofo rat.

I think it was yesterday that I posted that Bowe is not coming back to the states. This delay in a hospital is so that the admin can figure out what to do with him.

It would not surprise me if Bowe is allowed to walk away from the hospital and promptly disappears. Probably back to Afghanistan...

For the past five years Bowe as been thinking, what an ass I was to take my father’s advice to “follow my conscience” when I had even grown one yet.

“His old man is crazier than he is.”

Maybe he is mad at the father for giving his okay for his son to leave (”follow your conscience”) instead of telling him to stay. I think his father told him the Taliban would be glad to have him. Maybe he realizes that his father has been politicizing this from the beginning and endangering him. If the Taliban really did keep him in a cage and his father has been praising the Taliban, I wouldn’t want to speak to my father either.

“It’s possible that his government handlers are coaching him, trying to make a case that he is mentally unstable, so he can get out of any UCMJ charges of desertion, treason, collaborating, etc.”
*********************************************************************

It’s very unfortunate, but I believe this is likely to be true.

One of the father’s statements at the rose garden that was directed at his son was along the lines of “we’re sending some people to talk to you, trust them”. Is Bergdahl currently being “advised”/coached by legal (and/or political) counsel? What is going on now with Bergdahl to “shape” his story?

Unfortunately, with the many “political” generals that the Obama regime has promoted and placed into strategic positions, I no longer trust the military to do anything other than what the Obama regime directs in detail.

That is not the way it works. Bowe is obviously not cooperating with the debriefing.

“My guess is he’s upset at mom and dad for dragging him home.”

Maybe, but I think his father is a bigger Muslim supporter than his son and was willing to politicize his son to get the five Gitmo captives released. Maybe his son grew up in captivity. Didn't his father say he wanted all the Gitmo prisoners released. Sounds like his son was a pawn.

Well, he should definitely be tried as a deserter. We will have to see if he was an actual traitor.

Or Bergdahl doesn’t want to discuss the true nature of his “capture” by the Taliban and life afterwards. Maybe the family can’t handle the truth or Bowe is too embarrassed to discuss what he has done.

For days I’ve been telling my family that’s exactly what’s going to happen. And where are his *loving* parents?
