What is interesting is that the shooting took place at 2:30pm Eastern time, and it is 10:50 which is like 8 hours later, and we still do not know the name of the civilian victim or the names of the two shooters.
Usually within an hour or two, there are at least two versions of names of the perps, and a half-dozen stories about how they are tied to the tea party. We’d already have their facebook pages which would have been wiped, and their manifestos, we’d have speculation on where they got the weapons, who they were affiliated with, etc..
I don’t know if it is actually refreshing or not, but they certainly are doing an excellent job controlling the news releases here.
For example, I’ve been waiting all day to see some confirmation or refutation of a comment made early on that the dead civilian was CCW and had engaged the suspects. But there’s been nothing in any of the official news stories, most of which are quoting each other and not providing additional information.
I guess being a sunday afternoon kind of cut back on the news cycle.
