Conservative Media Refuse to Cover New Book on Gay Movement
Breitbart's Big Journalism ^ | June 8, 2014 | Austin Ruse

Posted on 06/09/2014 3:14:27 AM PDT by Bratch

Robert Reilly is one of the more respected men in Washington, DC. As a very young man, he was a special adviser to President Reagan. He is a longtime music critic, specializing in teaching the emergence of amazing new orchestral music. He was a spokesman behind the green line during the Iraq war, reporting directly to Paul Bremer, head of the occupational authority. He led the Voice of America.

Reilly's new book cannot get a hearing; there is a media blackout, a stonewall even among the conservative press who, according to a high-ranking think tank scholar at the Hudson Institute, owe him at least a hearing on his controversial new book Making Gay Okay, out now several weeks from the Catholic publisher Ignatius Press.

But so far, silence—or the sound of slamming doors.

Nothing in National Review, not even National Review Online. Nothing in Weekly Standard, even though Reilly reached out personally to his old friend Bill Kristol. Nothing in the American Spectator, which has already rejected a piece on the book by one of their longstanding contributors. The Wall Street Journal didn’t even lead the publisher along. They said simply and firmly, “no.”

What is everyone so worried about?

Perhaps they don’t think “gay” is ok, and have no intention of promoting the whole notion.

Note to homosexuals.....all of us are not going to convert. Some of us will choose to listen to God, and not submit to your pressure. We won’t answer to you when we die - we will answer to Him. It matters not what you think, or even what we think. Only God’s opinion on the subject is important.

“Note to homosexuals.....all of us are not going to convert.”

What really irks them is that most normal people are disgusted by what homosexuals do to each other...

There is also the thinking among young editors that who are we to judge the private behavior of others.

This is the thinking among a whole lot of people, not just "young editors." I understand it is also part of Mr. Reilly's argument. "We can't judge" the behavior of homosexuals, because that would be to acknowledge that there are standards by which our own behavior could be judged and condemned.

Not every single media outlet has to cover every politically correct book that comes out. The Conservative Media can rest assured that this book will get lots and lots of coverage. They cover books of substance that cover new ground. Nothing that we’re reading here indicates that there any new news in this book.

Heterosexuals also do some awful things to each other but they do not try and change Church thinking on sexual perversity as homosexuals do.

I am glad to see people using the label ‘homosexual’ rather than ‘gay’ because there is nothing gay about the homosexual lifestyle.

It will be the opening story on CNN for a month, read aloud, narrated by one of the many sodomites on the network, probably Anderson Blooper. On PMSNBC Resident sodomite Rachel Madcow will rant for the first 30 minutes about how awful republicans are and how they will never win another election unless they embrace marriage “equality”.

Fox News will also cover the book, probably resident homo “marriage” supporting Megyn Kelly.

“Heterosexuals also do some awful things to each other but they do not try and change Church thinking on sexual perversity as homosexuals do.”

I would probably be just as disgusted by, and never defend, those things either.

I’d prefer something beyond “homosexual” that captures the mental illness involved; I normally refer to them as deviants, but that is too broad a term.

It's already been done. The Catholic Church is the only major Christian organization that has not changed its teaching on heterosexual perversity. Many now approve the whole gamut of immoral sexual behavior between opposite-sex partners.

Not every single media outlet has to cover every politically correct book that comes out. The Conservative Media can rest assured that this book will get lots and lots of coverage. They cover books of substance that cover new ground. Nothing that we’re reading here indicates that there any new news in this book.

Did anyone even read the article? The book in question is absolutely politically incorrect. It refers to 'gay' marriage as 'sodomitical' marriage. It is an examination of how the press - all of the press, both mainstreeam and now even 'conservative' - have colluded in changing the language and the arguments that previously surrounded discussion of homosexuality. Criticism and even honest examination of the health risks and psychological/moral defects of the homosexual lifestyle have been determined to be verboten. The 'conservative' press, such as it is, largely goes along with this.

This is one of the dangers of blindly following 'conservative' writers, leaders and politicians and thinking that they're on your side and it's your team. As the entire culture slides ever leftward, the federal government keeps growing and liberty keeps shrinking... does anyone notice that your 'team' moves right along in the same direction? Issues that many here on FR have strong opinions about such as illegal immigration, the homosexual movement, the financial and cultural destruction of the middle class - they continue apace no matter which team wins elections. The Conservative Movement is not halting anything and is certainly not tearing anything down that the Left has erected. Do you enjoy being groped and treated like sheep at the airport? Your 'team' built that. It will never go away.

This man wrote a book that is critical of the cultural, religious, moral and ethical breakdown and how very powerful and very effective media campaigns have changed the very 'rules' of discussing the issue. The conservative press won't even mention or discuss the book. Nothing to see here, move along. They've conceded ever more ground, and would prefer this man's book not inform or upset you about that.

When a movement won't even conserve facts or the proper meaning of words, I begin to deem it unworthy of being called 'conservative.' There are still millions of actual conservatives in this country. Until it is realized that the elites in what you think is your press and your political party actually have much more in common with the Left than with you, this country will continue its steady slide. At what point is there nothing left worth conserving?

RE:”In the beginning of the same-sex marriage debate, however, the arguments changed. No longer could homosexuality be criticized. The only argument advanced was that children need a mother and father, something that same-sex couples cannot provide. This argument was backed up by voluminous social science data that has been almost overwhelmingly rejected by the American electorate and certainly by the courts that, state-by-state, are imposing same-sex marriage. “

Yep, once it became politically incorrect to call the lifestyle destructive it was over.

There were two steps to this I remember that they took:

1) Adoption of children by gays :”No one else wants them so they are better off being taken care of by two loving parents even if they are gay/same sex couples”

Family values

2) Marriage is for having and raising children “If the parental argument is the only one against same sex marriage then why to we allow couples who cant procreate to marry?”

There is a pervasive ignorance in our society that teaches that just because an act is committed in a bedroom that it has no impact on others. Thus, the legalization of sodomy in 2003 by our “enlightened” SCOTUS. YOu’d think that the HIV epidemic would have clued someone in on the huge societal impact that even the most private of behaviors can have on a society.

In biological terms, sodomites defeat themselves. From the perspective of natural selection, they have selected the wrong sex. And they have picked a sexual behavior that will insure they die young. If you want a way to make a quick exit from the gene pool, sodomy is the ticket.

You didn't read the whole piece, did you?

From the Breitbart piece:

What is everyone so worried about?

The book takes a highly critical look at how the LGBT movement has moved so swiftly through all major U.S. institutions including the military, the psychological establishment, the courts, education, and even the Boy Scouts. In some ways, the leaders of the LGBT movement ought to consider the book a love song to their political acumen and amazing successes. No one thought twenty years ago that they would have made so many remarkable advances.

Reilly takes a deep look at how it happened. He starts with a philosophical premise: that Jean-Jacques Rousseau—who taught reality could be changed and that any institution standing in the way of such changes needed to be overthrown including the family—swamped Aristotle, who was in love with unchanging reality. For gay to be okay, reality had to change, and Rousseau laid the groundwork for that.

There's more there -- the whole piece is worth reading!

They know, and are counting on it. That’s what it is all about, using the power of the state to punish those who they know will never buy into it despite the punishments inflicted. ‘Gay marriage’ is the stick they won’t ever have to put down, because there are those who will never buy into it.

In summary: Just another facet of the queer derangement syndrome (QDS). When queers aren’t vectoring diseases or rimming another male, the whining coprophiles are always screeching, I’m oppressed.

Total access to your kids is coming. Just as in Ancient Rome male homosexuals, aka coprophiliacs, were allowed to buy, sell, use, and trade young boys. Dragging civilization back a thousand years is called “gay” progress.

Thanks to the marketing of deviance by Hollywood perverts, people have simply bought into the vernacular set by the mentally deranged and so-called “gay” lifestyle. Why does what amounts to a man licking/rimming/felching another man’s rear constitute some kind of “gay” lifestyle?

The book’s argument:

“He suggests that inveterate sinning can lead to a deadening of the conscience and, in order to maintain inveterate sinning, an elaborate edifice of justification must be erected. The edifice of justification is built not just by the sinner but a willing society around him.”

Duh! Folks on FR have been saying that since...well, since before I joined in 1998. They want society to approve so they won’t feel guilty about doing what they already know is wrong. They want God to be replaced by Nike: “Just do it”.

“In the beginning of the same-sex marriage debate, however, the arguments changed. No longer could homosexuality be criticized.”

Nope. Not on FR at least. Heck, my standard reply to the homosexual activists is “When I see stallions doing other stallions while the other stallions seek it out, I’ll believe it is natural...” For variety, one can substitute ‘lions’ for ‘stallions’.

And as Paul wrote to the Romans 2000 years ago:

“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things...For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”

“would be to acknowledge that there are standards by which our own behavior could be judged and condemned”

Well that is the trick isn’t it...as long as we aren’t living lives that are given to evil, we just might have the moral and spiritual obligation to speak out about that which is evil?!

Everyone’s life is checkered to a varied degree...but to regain a national moral coherency we have to start somewhere, by repentance and separation from those who advocate sin.

The immoral have no moral basis in which to call those who are morally upright, immoral or even hypocrites. To even call another a hypocrite, one has to be in a morally superior position. The Gays may yell “hypocrite” but they are in no moral position to do so, though another Christian might be, if a brother or sister is erring.

The mistake Christians...Catholic and Protestant have made is to assume that unrepentant Gays have an equally morally upright position with those of Christians. Sure we are to love the ‘sinner’, but they don’t have Christ and their positions must be always seen as morally irrational. They may accuse us of being “condescending” by taking this position, but this is where we must stiffen our resolve and unify together in the faith. Spiritually, we must make our “faces to be as flint stone”! We have the superior spiritual position, though it may be costly to us to be supportive of that position. The living Christ, God in flesh, the cross and the empty tomb...and now our advocate or “defense attorney” before the Father is what we have...! What do they have?

"Heterosexuals also do some awful things to each other but they do not try and change Church thinking on sexual perversity as homosexuals do."

But of course they do. Perhaps you're not old enough to remember when lubricious Christian/Evangelical books started coming out in the 70's and 80's, somewhat pink in the face in their effort to prove that they were not prudes and just fine with most of the Sexual Revolution as long as it had a fig-leaf of God-talk. Having agreed on just 3 rules

--- all the varieties of heterosexual indecency ran triumphant through the churches.

The shelves are now even fuller of Christian books which, centering on romance, emotion, relationship and pleasure, go on to permissively discuss mutual masturbation, oral sex, anal sex, role playing, surgical sexual modification, "mood enhancement" (fantasy, images, drinks and drugs), trash talk and sex toys.

Look in the Marriage and Sexuality Dept (LINK) of any Main Street or Online Christian book outlet, and you'll see hundreds of examples of what I mean.

Since most of them see fertility (procreative potential) as, at worst, an annoying glitch, but one that can be fixed!--- and at best a somewhat unrelated lifestyle option --- this stuff is actually gay-marriage-for-heterosexuals.

Yes, Mr. And Mrs. satisfaction-centered Christian: sizzling, self-actualizing and sterile. It shouldn't be surprising the gays moved in to claim it: it's a perfect fit.

You’d be surprised how many folks in these churches have large families and don’t use contraceptives. They don’t take a position pro or con. On the other hand while the Roman Catholic Church takes such a position, A majority of married Catholics at least in America seem to ignore such a position and use contraception. So there is an issue of corruption everywhere in many Christian churches and the loss of clear coherent spiritual teaching.

Hence we go back to my original point...we have to start somewhere!

The Duggars are Southern Baptist. Many Southern Baptists have come out against oral contraceptives that may act to end life after conception though they are neutral regarding other forms such as condoms or rhythm type methods. Of course Amish and old order Mennonite families are definitely against contraceptives. There are many Pentecostal conservative churches where contraceptives are frowned upon. There are “more with Catholics on contraceptive teachings then those against Catholics...at least when it comes to Catholics who still adhere to their church’s teachings..that is!

It might be better to think in terms of all “real Christians” everywhere, no matter what denomination or faith practice, when I speak of Christians “returning to our senses” in the fight for a renewed moral consensus in our nation. We might as well learn to hang together for the Faith, for God will certainly judge us all individually!

The real issue is, why is one passing the judgement and to what purpose. Life is pleasant with me no longer smoking. It is, it also frees up money for me to spend on some other stuff. People did pass judgement on my smoking habit. In perspective, however, it was a good thing my behavior was considered “wrong”. Were there some people who did it for pride? Sure were. But there were also people who saw how I was limiting my capacities through what I was doing, hurting myself, and they did it out of genuine concern, or proper judgement. Would it be wrong for someone to go around saying who ultimately deserves heaven or hell. Sure, but it’s not wrong to feel worried about someone because you know said person is hurting oneself, cutting oneself off from feeling companionship of the Holy Spirit, or engaged in some narrow-minded belief that limits one’s potential.

Good replies. My reasoning was that God is the judge, based on criteria that He has made reasonably clear to us. Among everyone who calls himself a Christian, there shouldn’t be must dispute, because the Bible is clear.

We’re not expected to judge others’ souls, but we’re entirely competent, from a religious standpoint, to say, “This action is wrong.” Also, as with the example of smoking, we can also use natural reason and say, “This action is has a high probability of a bad outcome for yourself and others.”

I agree with you: there are many people in a variety of denominations who welcome the children who come to them, so to speak. I simply am not aware of a significant organization, other than the Catholic Church, which has this as a standard.

And as you pointed out, the standard is ignored by many Catholics, and there is constant pressure to toss out the standards. That is the comparison I was making with homosexual activism, in the demand that traditional Christian morality be “officially” changed in order to please those who aren’t willing to follow it.

I will be more precise. Heterosexual perverts do not try and COERCE Church thinking via the courts as homosexuals do. That is the difference.

Otherwise such things as polygamy, polyamory (Orgies), pedophilia and bestiality would be forced on Churches as the new social normal.
